"By preserving traditional values of the West, which are originally the values of Western Christian European civilization, Russia can become a guardian of these values. This may seem like a paradoxical idea, but it is nonetheless true. Therefore, it is incorrect to say that the West is our enemy.''
I like this quote and it resembles the same spirit of old Russia following the demise of the Byzantine Empire. It was Russia who assumed the role of protector of the Eastern Orthodox Faith. This was one of the major causes of the Crimean War and like today France and England are aligned against Russia. Although this time around the Turks appear on friendlier terms with Russia today than in 1853 when the Ottoman Turks declared war on Russia and received help and support from Europeans powers. It always seems to come back to the imperialism of European powers in the middle east.
Add to this Jens Stoltenbergs of NATO statement “we will only rebuild Ukraine if they win” must give the remaining Ukes still alive a warm and fuzzy feeling.
Honestly, what these fools spew forth makes no sense and changes from day to day. Just recently we were to believe that Russia was to pay to “build back” Ukraine! And compare our Sec Def to Russia’s new one! As an old friend once said, “I could, but I’d rather not!”
Of course, she is the German foreign minister, but largely unknown here in the U.S. One conclusion readily drawn from looking into her rise to 'power' is that there is far more nuance in world politics than one can appreciate just following the US media.
For example, among many surprising positions taken by Baerbock over the years (see her wikipedia bio), she opposed NordStream. Well, of course, she's a Green. But one has to ask, what is going on in Germany where it appears that it is self-destructing its own economy...in the name of? Again, what is actually going on in Germany?
One of the reasons the world situation is so troubling today is that it is so very difficult to unravel the many, many cross-currents and get to the bottom of all the instability. This is compounded by what appears to be the total failure of diplomacy in solving the compounding disageements.
My guess is his focus will be on more of developing and production of drones and the associated technology that is changing warfare. Basically the industrial military complex that supports the Russian military. Simplicius mentioned this. A current weakness of the Russian military is relying on cobbled together Chinese technology in the drone area.
The U.S. is oblivious to the issue, and are still in the large drone such as Reaper Era, which are great for counter insurgency, but fail against a technology peer.
Tony Blinken just showed up in a Kiev bar playing Neil Young's "Rockin' in the Free World" on guitar as Kharkov burns. Words fail.
Beyond irony--in a country that's canceled elections.
I would rather live under communism while having strong cultural and family values than under capitalism with neither.
Let’s just say family values don’t fare well under either regimes.

These European light weights really come off as mindless twits.

Isn't that the truth. I found this take on the WEF style leaders amusing.

Interesting substack article, Cosmo. Thanks for sharing.
It motivated me to dig into post-Merkel Germany and, in particular, the Annalena Baerbock phenomenon, of which I was largely unaware.

We certainly live in 'interesting times.'
And can you imagine how that comes across to any people around the world with an IQ above room temperature.
Sort of puts that ,"We care" mantra of the international left into perspective. They care that Ukrainians are dying and they are not.
