Julie Kelly did a deep dive into Cornyn’s relationship with Biden admin & the bogus insurrection. Story broke on X early tonight. Cornyn is cooked. He & Thune were McConnell “boys.”. All three hate Trump. There’s been a huge campaign on X to “lobby” Senators to vote for Rick Scott. A list was released to Benny Johnson on where the vote was headed—Cornyn in the lead, Thune next, Scott last. With Rubio’s appointment as Secy of State, bodes well for Rick. In spite of spats, FL is loyal to Trump…Tx legislature is loyal to Bush & big oil. Cornyn’s attempt to frame Ken Paxton also not sitting well.

Yes, they are equally opposed as they are creatures of the deepest part of swamp.

Somewhere on this thread I linked to an article quoting Sen. Kennedy saying the leaked "whip count" was bogus. Of course, since it's a secret ballot any supposed "whip count" is pretty meaningless.

Benny Johnson claims he received the list from a whistleblower.

That E. Jean Carroll case is still outlandish. Will it be overturned? Completely fabricated.

"Media maestro"--I like it. John Thune's 8 months of probing were a waste of time though using alleged results of his research as "proof" is in line w. GOP wish for itself, ie, permanent minority. Longtime GOP watchers know this is by no means "shooting themselves in the foot," nor an "unforced error." I like that they were "aghast" that the people who pay all the bills would have a voice. GOP was enraged in Nov. 2010 when GOP House was given +63 seat landslide victory by tea party volunteers.

Selecting Thune or Cornyn is a huge, unforced error. Never underestimate the ability of Rs to shoot themselves in the head (would that it were just the foot).

On FP Scott is fully controlled by The Lobby, as are most senators.

Agree that very few senators are their own person (possibly, on the current R side, maybe Paul, Vance, Schmitt, Tuberville and, sometimes, Kennedy being the only exceptions). That said, Thune and Cornyn have made affirmative statements about Trump's unsuitability for office that, to most MAGA voters, would seem disqualifying. I believe the resounding pro-Trump vote that made all of this happen would see Thune/Cornyn as a slap in the face based on these statements alone, sapping much of the enthusiasm for the prospect that things might actually change. R senators up for re-election in '26 should bear this in mind in casting their "secret" (it'll leak) ballots on Wednesday.

Some odd talk about Vance's ability to be both President of the Senate and Majority Leader. Basically, the argument goes that "nothing in the Constitution prohibits it." That may be, but seems to me to be a far-too-unorthodox approach not to result in a parliamentary-procedure clusterF and cries from the Left that this is the dictatorship they promised.
