Striking NATO forces in Romania would be the logical equivalence.

Lviv.... The back up and future capital...... this is where all the secondary major control centers are probably located. But it is possible the Russians will not touch it. The idea being that the Russians want the Zelinski Gov and its associated appendages to go there.....so it will be left untouched.

On a differnt note... Is the US MILGRP located in the embassy or off site?

If Off site , I would not be in that part of Kiev

During the Obama years, he disparagingy made some type of reference to the "junior varsity" team.

Whoever is poking the bear strikes me as someone who should be on the junior varsity team. We need to quit fooling around here and deescalate before we bite off more than we can chew.

Flattening the statue of liberty with zero casualties seems appropriate.

But to strike Kiev would be dressed up as provocation too great for the West to bear. The propaganda is already written... and ready to be published, breathlessly. So I bet Russia picks a different very high-value target.

Entirely predictable that Russia would target Kiev, I predicted this in a comment a couple of days ago that this might happen. NATO has poked the bear and now they’re gonna have to deal with the response.

Attacking Kiev would be a measured response as long as they try to keep it along military targets of some description. I don’t think Putin wants to take out the city wholesale. The capital has been spared for the most part during this war and life has gone on. I have a feeling though that is getting ready to change.

I don’t believe Russia wants to have any type of limited or full-blown nuclear war anymore than anyone else does, but they’re going to have to get the point across to NATO in the West that they’re not going to play around any longer and the only way to do that is to probably make an example of Kiev.
