"Sudden", "unexpected". That means the clotshot or a hypersonic missile. I expect to read a lot more about senior US and British officers dying in "training accidents" over the coming months. As for more NATO activity in the Black Sea, this seems to be the Russians' Achilles Heel at the moment. They need to lock it down.

I don't understand why they haven't done so already.

Maybe because Odessa is still in Ukrainian hands and is a difficult place to capture, and also NATO can use Romania as a base. Taking Odessa is going to solve a lot of problems

Yes, and yes. The Brits in particular have a real fetish about the Black Sea. The upper-class pederasts in M16 still remember the Crimean War and fantasise about sleeping with Florence Nightingale. The Russians will take Odessa. It's just that with the new warfare, large scale operations in that direction will only happen when the Ukies are completely degraded.

Dying in training accidents? Within the past week I read about the Poles shutting down explosives training because they'd had 5 deaths. Hmmmm. An explanation for body bags full of body parts?

What branch of the (US) service might they be? Their units would have news, of acting commanders if nothing else.

From the comments in the substack:

Very interesting point about China using automation and tripling exports to global South.

My guess there was a quid pro quo between the West and Russia, that Russia feels the terrorist attack violated. Part of it I assume was targeting high level nato officers in Ukraine located in deep bunkers. I expect an increase in sudden deaths of Western military and intelligence personnel that were actually in Ukraine.

Beat me to it, Ray. And this is how it should be. The people who plot and plan these military adventures need to pay the price.

How about our Congress, waging a war on which there was never a vote?

My assumption as well that NATO officers are scattered all over key locations in Ukraine. Russian intelligence through a variety of means (Signal, boots on the ground, drones) has the means to identify these targets over time.

As far as the "quid pro quo"; most likely Russia was operating under this premise; however the West... not so much especially as the stakes continue to get raised.

The West broke their side of the bargain, just like they did with Minsk and the Grain Deal. Because the rules don't apply to them.
