Somewhat late, but just saw this piece in the Federalist! A third of DC Circuit judges are foreign born. In common: before being appointed (by the usual suspects) they had little to no experience as a judge, and they all hate Trump! Coincidence? A must-read!

Can someone explain: How can "snap-back provisions" be relevant, given that Trump withdrew from JCPOA?

I wonder if the mass drone strikes on critical infrastructure in Russia (particularly large long range drones) was a method to ‘tie down’ Russian AA assets that could have been sent to Iran.

I happened upon this quite in Moon of Alabama ( MOA ) article

I imagine it is accurate

Regarding the United States Assistance to Ukraine estimate at 119.7 Billion

"""" US contribution - assistance already provided to us from 2022 (according to the Kiel Institute, US assistance to Ukraine in 2022-2024 is estimated at $ 119.7 billion) """"

===============================

This also perhaps bolsters the estimates on aide provided to or required by Israel

A prior note I had written:

I asked GROK what the war cost Israel up to January 1 2025 And If 100 Billion was a fair estimate 40 billion military 60 billion economic losses

both military costs and losses economically eg: from tourism, investment to housing refugees from west bank

========================

Ask GROK :

"Conclusion

Yes, $100 billion USD by January 1, 2025, is a fair estimate—possibly conservative if Lebanon’s toll or economic ripple effects exceeded expectations. A range of $90–110 billion USD better captures uncertainty,..."

==============================

I think a fair conclusion:

Trump is Desperate to Get Israel $$$$$

That is $ 200 BILLION USD for wars Israel and Ukraine and continuing

Or, Trump is serious about moving away from Europe and making the Middle East "investment grade", as Steve Witkoff told Tucker Carlson repeatedly. Witkoff also said that he does what Trump directs him to do. What Witkoff said was true enough that a GOP fundraiser is now calling for his ouster. And the WSJ was upset about his positions.

Depends on the meaning of the word "peace." My belief is that Trump would welcome cooperation with Russia--but with Russia in a subordinate position. I believe that he will find out that the Russians are serious about being treated as equals.

One of the consequences of the 3 year war in Ukraine is that Russia has faced lots of US/NATO armaments and devised various countermeasures; particularly with respect to electronic interdiction. The upcoming confrontation in Iran will pit the best of the US arsenal against top notch Russian AD systems, which may now include the new S-500. If so, those ancient B-2s could be in for a rude surprise and even the submarine launched Tridents/Tomahawks may not make it through. In other words, if the attack fails spectacularly, it will be a huge blow to the US military's perceived dominance. Russia has recently launched new military satellites, so my guess is that Iran will have plenty of advanced notice and intel on the attack when it happens. After the Signal leak, all of this could spell doom for Hegseth's tenure at SecDef.

Agreed. There are a lot of problems with an attack, and especially when there are so many reasons why it could go wrong. That's from a strictly military standpoint, as you note. There are geopolitical reasons and economic reasons why it's a really bad idea, too.

It seems to me that Iran doesn't actually *need* nuclear warheads when it has already demonstrated that it can reliably strike Israel with hypersonics and thus take out Dimona at any time, irradiating Israel for decades if not centuries. Iran can withstand multiple nuclear strikes, tiny Israel cannot.

Fair point, but I cannot fathom Israel being clueless about our secret sauce so to speak. They don't want to spend money for weapons when we give them the money to buy ours. Additionally Israel uses the USA as their defense not unlike Europe.

"The US treats events as being without context or history. Russians--and most of the rest of the world--take history very seriously."

Well, not so fast.

We are being rushed into accepting the silencing and removal of those who would criticize US foreign policy (as inseparable from the highest priorities of our greatest ally) because that criticism is now deemed a national security threat by the Secretary of State. Calls for nonviolent protest are now treated as an incitement to violence.

We are being rushed into accepting the need to bomb bomb bomb Iran to protect our greatest ally.

And it is predicated on the evangelical embrace of a specific interpretation of history before Christ. We are at a point in time where our evangelicals believe Christ is to be fulfilled by the Law and the Prophets, rather than that Christ fulfills the Law and the Prophets, fin. We are living in opposite-land. We think we are being very "historical" with a history older than "Holy Rus".

The two things that jump out at me are the hypocrisy and the silence. MAGA folk were outraged when peaceful Trump supporters and opponents of the Plandemic were arrested, but now that we are doing exactly the same thing, it's absolutely fine. And as if that isn't bad enough, we are sleepwalking into a horrific conflict and...crickets. Where's Congress? Where are the Dems?

Yes. The dual citizenship issue is largely ignored by the vast majority of Americans, but there are those like Samuel Huntington who feared that DC, especially of the Jews/Zionists would lead to the conundrum we find ourselves in. In 2003 Federal bureaucrats launched a campaign to to rewrite and weaken the citizenship oath which had been in place 1795. In it's original form, the oath embodies two central ideas concerning citizenship. First, citizenship is exclusive, individuals can change their citizenship but they cannot have more than one at a time. Second, citizenship is a distinctive status conferred by a country's government, involving rights and obligations that distinguish citizens from non-citizens. The exclusivity principle was undermined by the rise of powerful forces (who might they be?) promoting dual loyalties, dual identities, and dual citizenship. The distinctive status of citizenship was eroded by extension of rights and privileges of citizens to non-citizens and by the claim that citizenship is not a national status conferred by the state on individuals but a transnational right of individuals against states that they carry with them wherever they choose to reside. This has substantially devalued American citizenship. This has occurred all over the West, but the greatest impact has been on the USA. I think this is one of the reasons more immigrants carry dual citizenship and are unwilling to assimilate and changing the fabric of this country. We have long had an identity crisis that's been ignored and the chickens are coming home to roost.

We given them the money to buy our politicians and they have spent the money on rope to hang us first the it will be their turn.
