Yeah? The counter snipers were on a sloping roof. This kinda gaslighting simply fans the fire of suspicion.

This is an undated quote of Vance. However, if you follow the link there's a brief video from the convention in which Vance makes some pretty foolish statements. The hope is that this is rhetoric rather than actual policy. One thing probably for sure--there will be changes over the next 6 mos.

I’m pretty sure the Vance pick is Trump’s way of getting the Senate to better align to his goals this time. He’s already got Speaker Johnson aligned.

"Midget females"😂 So true. I read they sent the A Team to protect "Dr Jill." Trump had the rejects. The article said that the tall guy was a US Marshall and the others were Homeland security, not Secret Service. Whole operation is totally suspect. I agree the Ukraine aspect is of the utmost importance in evaluating what really is behind this. thanks for great post!

If so then no wonder communication was lacking and lack of clarity for outer perimeter responsibility left to local law enforcement.

Man who tried to kill Donald Trump was spotted on a roof nearly 30 minutes before the shooting.

One officer at the rally took a photo of Crooks at 5:45 p.m. and called it in as a suspicious person, according to WPXI-TV.

Holy sh*t.

Investigators are trying to figure out how Crooks was able to get roof access.

Sean Davis @seanmdav

Pretty crazy how an assassin was given a free shot at Donald Trump after Biden’s debate collapse but right before Donald Trump announced his VP and was formally nominated as the GOP presidential candidate. It’s almost as if the whole thing was engineered not just to eliminate Trump, but to require an entirely new ticket free of any Trump influence whatsoever.

And then it just so happened the shooter is the only person in the entire country without any social media or online footprint whatsoever. And the FBI, after whole minutes of effort, just couldn’t figure out how to crack his phone. What a series of very strange coincidences.

Trump’s running mate, Senator J.D. Vance in his own words describes the future of Ukraine:

“On the Ukraine question in particular, everyone with a brain in their head knows that this is going to end with negotiations… Ukraine is functionally destroyed as a country.”

“Our Ukraine policy is unsustainable. The average age of a soldier in their army is 43–older than me. No one can articulate what $61 billion will accomplish, so we need to be pushing a negotiated end to the war.”

Here is a good short overview of Vance's foreign policy positions:

https://responsiblestatecraft.org/trump-vance/

In essence he is an Ukraine realist/dove, an Israel/Gaza hawk, and a China hawk. Disappointing and quite concerning to me overall but really his positions seem to mirror Trump's current ones. Here he is in his own words:

https://www.vance.senate.gov/press-releases/senator-vance-slams-u-s-foreign-policy-establishment-for-decades-of-failure/

https://www.vance.senate.gov/press-releases/senator-vance-europe-has-to-step-up-america-needs-to-focus-on-china/

I can understand the pick for domestic political reasons and because he is bright and very well spoken. But I am not pleased about his foreign policy positions. One can say that at least he doesn't appear to be a full blown Neocon like Rubio.

Yes, that was very interesting. One topic they could only leave for later discussion was: what were the ROE (rules of engagement) for the local police counter-snipers? Or the policeman who was said to confront Crooks on the roof? Because in combat, you don't wait, you shoot first to try to disrupt the other guy, to mess with his ability to shoot back at you. So, TBD.

Sundance at the Conservative Treehouse has very suspicious view of Vance. CTH reported that Vance became a Trump supporter after Peter Thiel started bankrolling Vance's political efforts. Sundance also noted that Peter Thiel also has connections to the FBI and this is considered a non starter by Sundance. Simply a Deep State Vector to the daily life of Vance and an achilles heel when the main chore is to over haul the bureaucracy of the Intelligence Community.

Brother Ass's avatar

I read Sundance with a grain of salt these days. To counter what he says regarding Vance:

1. Thiel was a supporter of Vance’s political career from the very beginning (if not earlier — i.e., instrumental in convincing Vance to run for office.) Vance worked for Thiel before his shift to politics. In other words, there was no sudden bankrolling out of nowhere.

2. Tucker Carlson featured Vance on his show way before the latter even announced his run for Senate. This was around the time Vance’s memoirs, “Hillbilly Elegy,” were published. I distinctly remember Tucker quipping that he hoped Vance might be President someday. I thought, now there’s a pipe dream.

3. Already in his first term, Vance has become one of the bright lights of the Senate on a whole host of issues, not least of which is the war in Ukraine.

4. Finally, for my part, it means a lot that Vance was not only recently received into the Catholic Church, but that he is, as we say, “attached” to the Traditional Latin Mass. That and the content of his memoirs are enough to convince me the guy is a real conservative (as opposed to neocon). Now back in the early days of the Trump phenomenon, truly conservative folks were understandably often hesitant to embrace the man. As we all know, Trump’s not a paragon of morality or virtue, and he easily rubbed such folks the wrong way. I know. I was one of those people. As time wore on we got more comfortable with Trump and his “style.” And we came to see all that was at stake. I don’t see why Vance is so special (and suspicious) in that regard. I barely even remember Vance’s “anti-Trump” phase.

My personal measuring stick moving forward is centered on the predatory bureaucracy found in the FBI, CIA and various alphabetical Intelligence Community bureaucrats. A POTUS Trump and VP Vance will have the munitions to dispose of Chris Wray and the hundreds of his ilk that actually run foreign and domestic policy.

Trump has been judicially harassed and an association attempt throw in for good measuree since 2015. I will follow the efforts of POTUS Trump and VP Vance to clean house of the bureaucracy.

Listened to Deep Dive. A must-listen. Schaffer: “I don’t think they thought they were ever going to have to take Trump off the stage.” Uh…??? Yeah, that would indeed explain the lack of drills, training, going-on-automatic, as SS would act in an operation of this kind…and the time elapsed before the police sniper took his shot…and (!) the clumsy, Keystone Cops moves as they bundled Trump off the stage. A deeply disquieting discussion, leaving dread in its wake…
