The problem with hegemony is that it can become a state of mind. Almost a reflex response of attempted domination to any challenging situation. That’s not healthy, but it’s where we in the West are. Or so it seems. And now we’re running up against the limits of hegemony. It’s becoming more and more apparent that the hegemonic response is starting to drag us down by involving us in multiple insoluble conflicts.
Thank you Mark - excellent post. Neocons have a lot to answer for, and they need to answer, and then be put away forever as deterrence to focus the minds of the next clowns who come along. The ‘lets you and him fight’ strategy is disgusting.
This entire post was like watching a house of cards awaiting that last card to be played before a total collapse. First, the Ukraine gambit hasn't worked out as expected for the Neocons. Can Zelensky hold out until the 2024 election? Doubtful. What happens next is anyone's guess, but the outcome will not be dictated by the West. A good politician might ask what we got for those billions siphoned to Ukraine besides further in debt while increasing Russian prominence in the region. A good politician might ask what happened to all our erstwhile allies in the Middle East under Biden's tenure.
The latest Ukraine funding bill being promoted by the new House Speaker is rather clever, taking from one of the most reviled U.S. bureaucracies (IRS) to further 'fund' the Ukraine debacle. Who wouldn't be for that trade-off? The MSM may have some trouble convincing tax paying Americans to support the Biden WH on that one.
The chicken hawks may be looking for a roost before long unless they want to play the final card to bring on WWIII.
Thanks for the correction. I knew that but had been on a Ukraine rant for the first half of the post and my mind just carried it over to the final point. That the funding is to be removed from the IRS to go to Israel, IMO, makes it an even heavier lift for the MSM to carry the WH's water.

Don't worry about turnout. Fake ballots and computer driven malfeasance will always turn out for the D's.
Looks like we have three global politicians willing to risk WW3 just so they can eke out a few more years in power: Bibi, Biden and Zelensky.
Two of ‘em are in it for the money, the third one maybe too.
