Apologies for length:

While the economic missteps and results are absolutely and terrifyingly real, I suggest that they are not the reason for what it's happening. The "Sanctions War" is clearly hurting the West more than it is hurting Russia. So why continue?

You can find a clue in the absolute implacability in the actions of each participating regime. As an example, consider Canada's Trucker Rebellion. All Castreau had to do was to say "OK, we'll talk" and the entire event would have disappeared. Instead, he intentionally caused a national crisis, a deep split in the people, and exposure of Canada as a de facto dictatorship.

Why? Because he was ordered to.

And because he believed in The Cause.

What Cause?

There is an Unholy Alliance between the Radical Environmentalists ("Global Warming - The planet is going to die!"), the Malthusians ("Too many humans are destroying the planet. We must reduce the number!"), and the Davos Crowd = WEF ("We deserve to rule because we are The Best!") Each of these beliefs is the basis for an ideology, a religion if you will. Followers will not deviate from the dogma BECAUSE THEY ARE BELIEVERS.

It matters not that their actions are self-destructive or that they are contrary to the will and the interests of their subjects. The Believers are Saving The World and nothing will convince them that they are wrong.

So prepare yourselves for the New Dark Ages. We are about to see the destruction of our fossil-fuel based economy, large-scale depopulation, and global authoritarian government and elimination of individual rights (for the Greater Good, you know).

Unless we stop them.

Agree Tom w your description of the plan, but how it actually works out will be very different than they suppose.

I start w a few obvious facts.

1. Americans are essentially passive up to a point. Most want to be left alone and will put up w quite a bit before taking action. See, Scamdemic, 2020 Steal.

2. Americans are the most heavily armed and trained population on the planet.

3. America is a huge country and highly populated. Did I mention heavily armed?

4. Americans will not put up w seeing family go hungry or freeze. That is a red line. They won't put up w government seizing food and fuel etc... We arent China, or Soviet Russia, or Germany or even Venezuela. The Regime will have to resort to force.

5. There isn't anything close to enough LEO or feds to use force on scale. Look at BLMTIFA riots in 2020. That was childs play compared to seriously pissed off mobs of angry, hungry heavily armed citizens.

6. Regime will have to ask the military to impose rule. Some part of the military will say, aw hell naw. At that point we have Spain 1935 and TSHTF.

What happens then is a guess. Probably need a new Constitution, maybe articles of confederation? I sure hope there are some geniuses thinking about what we're going to replace this *** show with. Hate to fight a bloody civil war and end up w a ***p system.

I agree that we will probably need a new Constitution. The existing one has been Cloward-Pivened into uselessness. But do we have people of true wisdom to create a replacement?

Or we could end up in Kurt Schlichter's scenario and have a nasty national divorce?

"One gets the impression that Western politicians and economists simply forget basic economic laws or just choose to ignore them."

We can ignore them because a new law called Modern Monetary Theory has been revealed to us, and by following this law we will arrive at the rosy future in which you will own nothing and you will be happy.

You own nothing and yet you have gobs and gobs of currency but it's worth nothing. Because the central bank can supposedly print all the money it wants and the repercussions will be, well, nothing. MMT a fantasy of the void.

Some of the analysis is overly simplistic. US stocks have plunged (ex energy etc) but come on it’s not five guys in a room planning all this since 2014 to enrich us Corps

No need Mary. The Amish towns will all be moving to *us* as we sink deeper into 19th century energy production.

Talk about Back to the Future!
