Thune cares about nothing except the fact that he has waited so many years for this opportunity and he deserves it because he has paid his dues to McConnell. The power and prestige of the majority leader position are OWED to him. The American people? Who?

And somehow this may be an even more difficult war. Say what you will about the Marxist Dems, but they stick together and “move forward” on the same page. The dirty R’s like to scheme and fight amongst themselves.

Trump is going to tolerate a treacherous House and Senate run by Rs as he did in 2017 during the first two years of his term? Is he going to make this mistake again?

In a rational political party, this should give Trump enormous leverage:

PRE-TRUMP vs. NOW:

— Voters under 30: 12-point shift

— Voters w/ incomes <$50K: 25-point shift

— Voters w/o college degrees: 18-point shift

— Black voters: 15-point shift

— Hispanic voters: 38-point shift

— Asian voters: 32-point shift

Clearly we the people have spoken loudly, defiantly. Now we will see whether Trump is for real. I deeply hope he prevails against the domestic enemies arrayed against him…

I'm not as worried about Trump as I am about the rest of D.C., and his Herculean task of cleaning up the Augean stables of the swamp.

Class consciousness and class solidarity. The upper classes are acutely conscious and have utmost solidarity with their co-upperclassists. Trump will do nothing that threatens his class = nothing will fundamentally change.

Before drawing the conclusion that Trump has solidarity with his presumptive social class, maybe you should take a look at how his presumptive social class has treated him. Why would he owe them any favors?

We will see.

Trump has already been libeled, defamed, vilified, blackballed, ostracized, sued, and prosecuted with the aim to destroy him, his business, and his family.

Most of the upper class hates his guts and are a bunch of rent seekers. And they fear the economic changes he may implement that could roll back their unfair wealth collection due to the financialization that has hollowed out American jobs, hurt the middle class, and hurt the U.S. economy.

A huge achievement in his first term was requiring two regulations to be repealed for each new one. I expect deregulation to be a priority in his new term.

The headache is the economy has a lot of financial bubbles / bombs, which need to be defused. Deficit is one, housing bubble, inflation, commercial real estate market, weakening of us dollar as reserve currency, etc.

Trump won the city of Clifton, NJ, where the Latino population has roughly doubled over the past 20 years. Biden won by 19 points in 2020. Clinton won by 23 points in 2016. Obama won by 26 points in 2012

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

Any Republican Senator seeking the coveted LEADERSHIP position in the United States Senate must agree to Recess Appointments (in the Senate!), without which we will not be able to get people confirmed in a timely manner. Sometimes the votes can take two years, or more. This is what they did four years ago, and we cannot let it happen again. We need positions filled IMMEDIATELY! Additionally, no Judges should be approved during this period of time because the Democrats are looking to ram through their Judges as the Republicans fight over Leadership. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. THANK YOU!

Sunlight is the best disinfectant.

Not one gop senator voted for a recess during trumps first term, causing zero recess appointments. It requires unanimous vote to stay in session. The senate was always officially in session.

This seems rather interesting. It sounds like Trump telling Thune, Look, I can endorse you and make things smoother for you, but you need to give me something in return. Maybe you can win without me, but everything will be easier for you going forward if you work with me. If you want a long leadership, past my time.

I don't think he will endorse Thune or Cornyn absent major concessions - especially after Thune's thinly veiled warning about getting involved in the selection process. It is my hope that Trump brings the full weight of the election results to bear in one way or another.
