“Kaczyński embraced the Ukraine/Neocon millstone, wrapped it around his neck and knotted it tightly, and jumped in over his head.” This summation of the Polish anti-Russian delirium has got to rank right up there in the Great Metaphors of Moments in History!

Read it. If there are written excesses along the lines of "Go Israel, Go!", Mr Matte has written the rejoinder. Not nuanced, at turns very polarized & disingenuous.

"Not nuanced"? Wow, that's pretty harsh. I've listened to a few of his interviews. I'm quite sure I wouldn't be on the same page with him on all things, but he seemed reasonable.

With respect Mr Wauck, Mr Matte's history has a lot of details, but is in my judgment out of balance in that linked update. Having said that, serious inputs (Mr Matte's input is serious and detailed) are certainly worth absorbing and considering.

I wonder if any of those carrier groups could fit through the Bosphorus?

I wonder if those Kinzhal’s are meant as a deterrent for any attack on Syria?

Best guess: No, yes?

For what it’s worth. My Polish friend, who grew up behind the iron curtain, referred to Tusk as a commie when asked.

He's a poisonous little toad for sure.

"Thing is, due to religious issues, I would prefer Israel wins, but the cost might mean a world conflagration. "

Q: what are the religious issues, why do you prefer Israel wins, and yes, it will. It's not staying over there our government is making sure by importing chaos through the chaos overseas driving more mass migrations. We already have 7 million invaders, most of which (some reports 70%) are military age men and many are known to be terrorists, and many seem to be part of a grander plan to increase more terror on our shores through CIA training and putting out the welcome mat for Palestinians refugees. Israel and Ukraine are linked as they seem to be the center of money laundering for the Oligarch's who buy off our politicians to do their bidding with little concern as to how this impacts our lives.

You are correct, Pete. At the beginning of the West's aggression towards Russia through the Ukrainian proxy war on behalf of the neocons much has been written and said about Russia wanting to reprise the Soviet Empire. Just yesterday over lunch a colleague suggested this very thing. The average citizen has bought the propaganda hook, line, and sinker. I say nuts! Look at Poland and as your post suggests it is they who want to reprise Greater Poland. The many different Baltic states all fought each other and Russia, but they always blame Russia for the problems we are enduring today. They are all involved and this is why our founders wanted no part of the Old world's ancient grievances and lust for enlarging their nation through conquest.

All I know regarding the Polish election is that Donald Tusk spells bad news for the UK and the ongoing Brexit issue (nothing has been done to fully extricate ourselves). Tusk was the most rabid anti Brexit dog in the EU and openly conspired with remainers to sabotage the result. In the future I foresee us being reeled slowly back in on the long line that was placed round our necks when we voted leave. In the scheme of current events I doubt anyone will even notice.

Exactly. Poland under Tusk will posture itself as a future leader in the EU. He's a devious man and will only do what is in the EU's interests. I'm not hopeful for Brexit.

My hope is that his coalition will prove too diverse to be able to push his agenda effectively. The Third Way is, in many ways, closer to the basic Polish impulses behind PiS, and in fact is largely made up of former PiS who were turned off by its Kaczyński led excesses. We will see.

I hope you are right. Tusk is devious though and in Britain and the EU alike policies are very often walked in via the back door when no one is looking. I doubt he'll be popular.
