This is a huge win for Putin, no matter what happens on the ground in Ukraine.

“That is a lesson that will resound around the world. A naked illustration that the “rules-based international order” is simply that we make the rules and order you to obey them.”

Putin rolled into Ukraine with the stated goals of 'de-Nazification' and 'de-militarization. That has taken years to plan, and it's becoming clear has not only specific military objectives, but is much, much broader in scope than any of the talking heads in the West were capable of imagining.

Personally, I think what we'll hear about soon after military ops are wrapped up will be aggressive financial moves by Putin's teams, especially to 'de-dollarize' across Russia's exchanges; she's already virtually debt free and has been piling gold (as has China) for the past couple of years. China (and possibly India) could very well follow. Even if they don't, this gives Russia the absolutely real leverage to move away from fiat money - especially the Euro, the Pound and US Dollar (all of which have become basically toxic) - and start replacing with gold.

Russia has her own version of 'SWIFT' already in place and open for business. I'll bet development of their own exchange is well underway along with a version of the digital Ruble.

What so many of us have been talking about that needs to be done here in the US (especially a movement to a currency safe from government 'sanction', forfeiture and outright subjective confiscation), Putin is actuating.

Think of the implications if (when?) the worlds reserve currency either fragments or otherwise ditches the US Dollar. What if a digital Yuan, or Ruble - tied to gold -becomes the reserve currency between Iran/Russia/India/China, or even just across western EurAsia?

Like you say, Mark - lot's of chickens in the air. No question, we're watching a new world order unfold in front of us.

Good summary. Putin’s goals are Putin’s goals. Too late for what shoulda or coulda. Watching the Elites continue to misunderstand this.

The dilemma is city fighting? Why bother? I might argue that Russia is less concerned about their troops than we are, but they may be even more concerned about the death of civilians. Also if they consider the Ukraine Russian territory, what would be the hurry to win and pull the troops out? Wherever they are they are at home. Who needs to win? Even without a formal ceasefire, as in Korea, they can comfortably stop fighting when they feel like it, and only respond with devastating force when attacked.

It depends on how they define "winning." But I believe part of their definition is to effectively terminate Ukraine's current military and they will fight to that end.

Another part of it is to put themselves in position to put down any insurgencies in the future (this I think is included in what they call de-Naziification). I am sure they expect the U.S. to continue supporting and funding insurgent groups long after the "war" is over - or at least they want to counter that possibility. To that end I fully expect the Russians will be keeping a significant number of troops throughout Ukraine indefinitely regardless of the formal political statuses of the "rump" Ukraine or the Donbas.

On 2/24/20 Putin announced a "special military operation for the de-militarization and de-Nazification of Ukraine.’” This has been all over the media. So how does this differ from what I have stated above? SOMEONE would have to provide defense for the Ukraine after the de-militarization and the "hostilities" have ended. Who might that be?

We're clearly in a Zeno's Paradox of gaslighting. First the unwinding of RussiaGate, followed by the unwinding of the most secure election ever. The unwinding of each successive bullshiite regime moves the masses half the distance to reality. The unwinding of the Covidian gaslighting took us half way there again, and that will be followed by the unwinding of Ukraine gaslighting (and another half way step), to be followed by hyperinflation and economic collapse (another half way)? While the ultimate solution to Zeno requires an ad infinitum bisecting of the distance remaining, reality will not adhere to mathematical rigor. At some (I think fast approaching) point reality will just reach out and slap us upside the head, bridging the final gap and ending the gaslighting regime for good.

Your optimism is refreshing.

While there will be those who realize the depths of the perfidy (Tulsi?), most will cling to their leaden indoctrinations all the way down. (My stepmother, for one)

It seems to me what you describe (living in screen world and its collisions with reality) has become an integral part of the "Progressive," "Liberal" mentality over the last 60 years. Spoiled kids throwing tantrums when they don't get their way and saying "nanananana" when they hear things they don't like. But in fairness, our whole society has gone this way.

Javelins schmavelins. Unless and until some fairyland cavalry comes riding to rescue Stand up Comic Zelensky, the Russians would seem to hold all the cards. Keeping any city alive and functioning is difficult in the best of times (Baltimore hasn't figured how to do that since 1950s). Encircle Kiev and let the defenders eat their Javelins and stingers. The only option for Ukraine is to sign a neutrality agreement with Russia and keep the CIA monkeys and their global corruptocrats out. Until then the Russians can be as patient as they like. Sanctions have been mostly exhausted and the hypocrites in EU and US cant do without Russia energy and minerals. It really is a distraction from what should be the Scamdemic Crimes Tribunal.

You didn't read what I wrote about the Russian use of decoy drones. I think the assumption that the Ukrainians prepared a defense in depth against a full scale Russian invasion is flawed. If that were the case they wouldn't have been dug in along the line of contact in the extreme east.
