Kim Dotcom appears to have a good handle on developments, IMO, and Valtersson also: Mikael Valtersson @MikaelValterss1 I've been unsure what really is the true cause for Prigozhin's uprising. But I'm more and more convinced that it's not an Maskirovka to fool the UkrAF.

Wagner agrees to end ‘insurrection’ – Lukashenko
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko announced on Saturday that he had arranged a deal whereby Wagner Group leader Evgeny Prigozhin will abandon his mutiny in exchange for “security guarantees” for his fighters.
“Evgeny Prigozhin accepted the proposal of President Alexander Lukashenko to stop the movement of armed men of Wagner in Russia and take further steps to de-escalate tension,” read a statement from Lukashenko's office.
I was reading similar accounts elsewhere. Prigozhin denies accepting Lukashenko proposal but says they're turning around. Apparently Russian aviation forces have hit his columns. The proposal speaks of guarantees for the Wagner troops, but no mention of same for Prigozhin. Would be major mistake to let him go.
I wouldn’t put it past the CIA/MI6 crowd to use Progozhin, turn him, or whatever the term. The Powers that Be know they cannot win on the battlefield, and with the “pause,” I just sense some further devilish plot being hatched to “win” some other way…MoonofAlabama has some interesting thoughts on this “uprising,” including Maciavelli’s warning that mercenaries are a bad bet…link below
Whoops! No offense to Machiavelli, but LJ has a theory that Prigozhin’s insurrection has been in the works (Putin-Prigozhin) and is a “coup de théâtre” - a sly move to beat the West at its own game while deftly repositioning forces towards northern lines…

Agreed. There is no way he can get away with this. It was a major propaganda win for the west even if it turns out to be a dud move.
It's a short-term propaganda win, but in the medium and long term, it will just make the Russians even more determined to get the job done.
Great points

I'm tentatively more persuaded that Prigozhin was acting in concert with the West.
