Maybe I should change my handle to Super Skeptical Texan?

Q : Who would know best how to cause the S-300 missile system's guidance to fail?

A : Russia, Russia, Russia

Q : Does anyone believe Mitch really wanted to win a majority?

A : I DID NOT!!! The idiot R's reelected Mitch as leader . . .

Q : Does anyone believe any political polls are accurate?

A : NOT ME !!!

Q : Do you believe that the 2022 elections were honest in Dem. controlled areas, including S. Texas?

A : Plenty of evidence that corruption still reigns supreme.

Q : Why is the midterm "loss" Trump's fault?

A : Everything is Trump's fault.

The problem of anti aircraft missiles happens. An example from Israel of a Syrian missile:

I agree with all your points, Tex. I think McConnell was more interested in stymying MAGA candidates and above all, preserving his own position than teaching the Dems a lesson. As for the cheating, they will have perfected that in time for 2024. I don't see a political solution to this at federal level. I hope that DeSantis has the sense to stay where he is and make Florida a template for other Red states.

Luongo has changed his tune regarding maintaining the Union: in his last podcast he said, instead of opposing WEF's efforts to break up the union, we should acknowledge that the mid-term results make dis-Union inevitable and go ahead and do it on our schedule rather than WEF's schedule.

@mtracey

Irony: in his announcement speech last night, **Trump said the missiles that hit Poland were fired "probably by Russia," aligning with Zelensky on the subject, and going against the more circumspect claims of Biden and others.** Does this mean Trump is "tougher" on Russia than Biden?

Trump wants to be the peacenik with a big stick.

His doctrine of sovereign nationalism doesn't recognize nuance like great power realpolitik. Nor has he given any hint of recognizing the WEF's fingerprint or the Great Game / Neocon subtext to it all.

He's frankly becoming dangerous.

He always was. There was that incident one February in Syria where he wiped out 500 ethnic Russians.

Interestingly, Milley says he tried to call Gerasimov yesterday, and Gerasimov apparently didn't bother taking the call. Tells you how the Russians view our military.

Seems like this is a growing trend with world leaders.

I suppose I am old and out of touch. When my plumbing presents a problem, I call the guy who I can rely on to fix things. It wasn't so long ago Bill Clinton said "It's the economy, stupid." Now we pick Presidents according to who offends you the least. Maybe plumbers too.

"On the one hand, Mercouris sees disturbing signs that Trump’s ego is getting in the way of an effective candidacy. Mercouris is also disturbed by reports that Trump does little reading. On the other hand …

He believes that Trump remains the only “agent of change” in US politics."

So the midterms we had a popularity contest and the Democrats didn't do too badly. Or maybe they cheated and nobody is all that bothered by it. Above all, we want to go forward and not address the problems of the 2020 election. Only Trump insists on doing that. Take Trump out of the picture and you can expect all future elections to be modeled after 2020. It worked. What will be with the country? Who cares? Politics as usual, and let the most appealing candidates win.

The sad thing is people like Alexander Mercouris repeat these lies. Like how bad Trump is with managing his staff, when the truth is that he accomplished so much while surrounded by enemies and with only enemies available in all of Washington. How he managed to make use of the 'swamp' is sheer genius, and the proof is that when Biden came in he immediately had to undo the many Trump accomplishments.

The two aren't mutually exclusive. Trump DID pick some truly appalling DS creeps, but he still had enough support and firepower to achieve some great things. As for Alex Mercouris, I think he is one of the better and more balanced commentators online. He makes a genuine effort to weigh up the evidence and say unpopular truths. Unlike whackjobs like Pepe Escobar and The Saker who ban anyone who doesn't slobber over Mother Russia.

Trump had support, but I'm not sure any of it was in the Washington establishment. As for truly appalling creeps, did he have anything else to choose from? I once read Adam Schiff saying you arrive in Washington all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, and soon learn to get along. As an example, Barr talked a good game before the 2020 election about how he was on top of everything, but they must have got to him, and after.....

Excellent summary, as usual, Mark. It is very strange to see the West behaving so sensibly about the missile incident. A few weeks ago, they would have been screaming blue murder against Russia. Maybe they are realising that the Ukraine wheeze is as big a loser as the Covid wheeze. There seems to be a horrible sense of foreboding among the neocons about the coming winter and Russian offensive plans. As for Zelensky, he is obviously a psychopathic maniac who would be happy to lead us into WW3 if it kept him power for a few more months. Turning to Trump, his announcement means that we are headed for another two years at least of political hysteria. The Dems will try and lawfare him into oblivion and Trump will continue to inflict his out of control ego on the rest of us. Finally, concerning the death shots, I'm still staggered how Australia went full throttle into Covid dictatorship. What happened to Crocodile Dundee, the Anzac spirit and Aussie Rules footballers? They descended into a bunch of terrified sheep at the first sign of pressure from their wretched leaders. Now they are paying the terrible price for that craven surrender of their freedoms.

Modern Australia started life as a prison colony. Unfortunately, half the country (descended from the prison guards) have that power-trip tyrannical mindset and the other half (the convicts) are used to being locked up and told what to do. It’s a myth that we are a nation of rugged, free-thinking individualists. But there are some of us who think differently and are awake. Hopefully that will be enough for the revolution!

Perhaps not so strange that the Poles are holding their tongue right now, post blow-up of SBF and Zelensky’s coffers drying up…meanwhile winter approaches and Russia continues mightily (refusing to talk to Milley) to end the war…

Indeed. There don't seem to be "Australians", "Americans" or "Germans" anymore, but just one kind of identikit sheep who obeys authority instinctively. The good news is that at least half of the world's population did not go along with this and get the death shot.

Aussies lost their freedom when they voluntarily gave up their right to be armed under the belief that their "safety" would be assured. They forgot that by doing so, they abrogated their ability to be free and safe from a tyrannical government.

Once again, someone on this Substack took the words right out of my mouth. The left is so far ahead when it comes to playing dirty pool its painful. People still roll around in the mud of the Russia Hoax while the left is already moving on to citizenship for every illegal in the country. They're light years past us. We make movies like 2000 mules while they've solidified vote stealing like its embedded in concrete 20 miles deep. We're still trying to figure out how to get rid of The Turtle (such a scumbag he is) and they're already putting another loon in their Minority Leader chair and handing Nancy's seat off to her even more moonbat daughter. We get one guy in there for 4 years and once they get back on they kill it all before sinking us deeper into the abyss.

Political optimism is hard to come by over in this corner of NH.
