Thought provoking and discerning article as per usual.
Both Jews and Christians have to face what happened with early Israel after they left Egypt. As described mainly in Joshua, they did massacre multiple peoples at that time to make space for themselves at God’s command. One must also confront this in Islam, with the Quran containing peace verses as well as 100+ “war verses”. So you have radical Muslims that take the war verses seriously, and now this article introduces me to a Jewish sect that takes Joshua as a moral blueprint for the modern era.
I have had skepticism about claims of genocidal intent by the Israeli nation/government for various reasons for a long time (whether my skepticism was justified is for another time; I accept I can often be fallible and ignorant), but your writings slowly whittled that skepticism away and this new information for me is a clincher.
Check out the archives here. I would argue, and have, that Christians and Jews need to face up to the fact that the Hebrew writings about Israelite origins are not an historical record of events. The Deuteronomical writings came much later than the "events" described and are used to present a later ideology that differs significantly earlier Israelite religion. That, especially, includes the ideology of Holy War that modern Judaism--and some misguided "Christians"--appeals to.
As mentioned in another post, I am interested in reading your earlier writings but have not had a chance to dive more deeply yet. It sounds like I should try to find those on this topic first. Thanks for the follow-up
The German Nazis held similar views about their racial supremacy, though more a product of systematic inculcation and propaganda rather than any basis in religion. Nevertheless, the holocaust remains an everlasting stain on their history. One can even suggest they probably fully understood the heinous nature of their actions which is why those horrible crimes were perpetuated behind the high walls of their concentration camps secluded from the public. The Israelis on the other hand believe in the supremacy of their race over all mankind based on religioun. And that no crime no matter how dastardly or inhumane in the pursuit of divinely granted supremacy is not only kosher but decreed by God. So another genocide, another holocaust continues unabated but this time in full public view with the active and passive support of the Western powers. The same Western powers that never lost and still never lose an opportunity to remind us of the holocaust 80 years ago.
My evidence comes firstly from contemporary history and I understand it depends on whose pen is coming from. But my better understanding comes from having worked with germans who do not like to talk about that past but when they do they admit most of what is said is more or less true.
The response does not address my question/challenge. What sources, what "pens", persuade you that "The German Nazis held similar views about their racial supremacy." I provided a source for my claim.
Like many in the West who grew up in the 70s, I was brought up on the Raid on Entebbe and heroic stories of Jewish resistance to the Holocaust. How long ago that seems! We've come full circle and the Zionists have become the Nazis. Pretty incredible, really. When are the Arabs going to man up and put down these mad dogs?
Facile analogies of zionists to Nazis are troublesome, even counter-productive.
The essay of comparison requires that elements of comparison be listed, and agreement-disagreement on the elements between the parties be analysed, and conclusion/judgment made upon that comparison.
I'm sure the people of Gaza will appreciate the subtle semantic details and nuances of your words, Tristam! I wouldn't call my analogy facile at all; I chose it because of the remarkable resemblance between the Zionist assault on Gaza and the Nazis' storming of the Warsaw Ghetto. Furthermore, the ideology expressed by the evil individual in Mark's article is completely indistinguishable from that of an ardent Nazi towards the Jews. In short, the Zionists are Nazis in their words, their aims and their actions.
Raising the Nazi comparison gives Zionists a way out, an excuse. It is my belief that it is counterproductive. It does not serve to save Palestinian lives.
Evidence was presented about the 'evil individual in the article.' The claim that he is "completely indistinguishable from an ardent Nazi toward the Jews...in their aims and actions," absent evidence, sounds like amplifying the years of propaganda many have been subjected to .
I think we'll have to disagree on this, Tristam. I think it's very important to call the Zionists Nazis. Firstly, because their ideology, words and behaviour are very little different from those of the Nazis, and secondly because it destroys a key weapon in the Zionist armoury: a sense of moral superiority because of the Jews' very real suffering in the Holocaust. By mimicking the behaviour of the Nazis, the Jewish state has destroyed the moral foundations upon which it was founded. The Zionists have come full circle and shown themselves to be the very people they originally came to Israel to escape from.
I remain in disagreement, on the facts, one key fact being that the inception of the zionist project occurred over 50 years before an alleged holocaust of Jews.
But another bee has lodged in my bonnet:
A stone's throw off I95, just outside Savannah, GA, is the National Museum to the Mighty Eighth, where the WWII firebombing of German (and French & Italian) civilians is celebrated.
Several "alternative media" commentators have mentioned that Israel has dropped more bomb tonnage on Gaza than was dropped on all of Germany in WWII.
On civilians. Deliberately. Untold thousands of German civilians in 131 German cities were incinerated, along with their homes, churches, monuments, libraries, churches, infrastructure.
the US Air Force, Standard Oil, a group of Jewish architects from Harvard, and Jewish set-designers from Hollywood studios constructed and furnished exact replicas of typical German and Japanese housing at Dugway in the Utah desert. Furnishings included "a crib ... reflective of a young family with an infant." The buildings were used as a kind of target practice: they were firebombed, results studied, formulas and procedures adjusted until the Air Force could maximize its ability to start fires that would spread and spread and spread.
I learned about the firebombing of German civilians from Jorg Friedrich's The Fire.
The Allies were never called to account for their war crimes.
It sickens my soul that the crimes are celebrated at a museum in Georgia: several years ago, the Museum advertised the opportunity to hold a Sweet Sixteen party at the Museum!
Maybe it's a boomer thing: we were taught to 'clean your own doorstep' before you point at the sins of another. The mote and the beam parable, perhaps.
..... I think I just threw up a little ..... my mind, my spirit, my soul..... is fracturing with all the "unknown" truths I am learning about..... the deep, puss-filled reality of this human world...... I feel more and more nauseous, disgusted, shocked and furious at what "humanity" has become.... or perhaps it has always been this way but I was unaware....... hypnotized and manipulated and anxiously busy trying to live the life I had been maneuvered into living...... thank you for lifting up the rug once again..... for all of us..... and discovering another putrefying corpse of evil slithering along ...... uggghhh...... this is unbelievable ...... blessings to you for all you unveil
I don't think the picture is of Rabbi Friedman. More likely it's Kris Kringle from January through November. The red trim near the sleeves is a giveaway.
Considering the recent development of Santa Claus delivering piles of gifts to children on the day we celebrate Christ's birth,
which so neatly replaced the longer history of Saint Nicholas delivering gifts to children on his feast day, consistent with the legend of his rescuing poor girls from slavery by giving them dowries,
So Murder and Theft and Idolatry are prohibited for the Goyim (as per the Seven Laws of Noah) but they are just fine for the Chabadniks (Gaza genocide and land takeover, and worshipping Menachem Mendel Schneerson)? Well, I guess full membership in the cult ethnically has its privileges. But does it abrogate conscience and the recognition of sin and the need for repentance for it? Apparently not, given reports on the morale of the Israeli military. Like all cults, it ultimately demands and results in death.
Frankism and the phenomenon of Sabbatai Zvi within Judaism is complex. According to a series of lectures by Ken Ruderman, the kernal of the movements emerged from the experience of Jews in Iberia/Andalusia of converting to Christianity while also functioning closely with Muslims; then, upon expulsion and settlement, renouncing the conversion and returning to Judaism. The dual thought processes gave rise to movements as disparate as Spinoza and of Frankism, which permitted some influential Jews to believe that a total inversion of Jewish principles was appropriate: to sin was goodness; to transgress all boundaries was "moral."
Similar Jewish ideologies and gnostic movements were influential on modern Western ideologies, including within the Catholic Church. Bergoglio himself regularly quoted Kabbalist writings.
I don't view Nationalism per se as intrinsically bad or as a cult but rather as a method of governance based on geographical contiguity. Its success does depend on the commonality of interests of the people subject to it, which may be influenced by ethnicity to a degree but are certainly influenced by geography and geopolitics. That said, the idea of nationalism based on ethnicity is certainly subject to abuse, a prime example being in how the Nazis developed an ethnic superiority mythos among their subject populations to help enforce their own power. We see the same thing happening in Israel now.
Thought provoking and discerning article as per usual.

Well, lots of americans regard this as “the proper way to fight a war” and point to Sherman and Grant.
The German Nazis held similar views about their racial supremacy, though more a product of systematic inculcation and propaganda rather than any basis in religion. Americans, at least, have got to systematically disabuse themselves of such History-Channel versions of what German Nazis were and were not.
Bold claims require equally strong evidence.
What sound evidence do you offer to support your claims about "German Nazi views"?
My evidence comes firstly from contemporary history and I understand it depends on whose pen is coming from. But my better understanding comes from having worked with germans who do not like to talk about that past but when they do they admit most of what is said is more or less true.
"Contemporary history" is vague. Can you identify some of those "pens"?
Regarding the testimony of Germans, Patrick Lawrence's essay, Germany in Crisis, https://www.unz.com/plawrence/germany-in-crisis-part-3-a-culture-of-submission/ discusses the "remade consciousness" of the German people, whose "thoughts are someone else's."
If you want to say that a whole nation was duped into believing a past that was not then you are entitled to your views, as I am to mine. Take care.
The response does not address my question/challenge. What sources, what "pens", persuade you that "The German Nazis held similar views about their racial supremacy." I provided a source for my claim.
I wonder if Chabad is behind the phenomenon of maligning the Apostle Paul in the West and by Islamists.
Seems like Apostle Paul is a ‘thorn’ to Judiazers.
Yes, there is an entire "you got played by Paul" genre of criticism I see in dissident circles.

So deliberate was the targeting of German (and Japanese) civilians that, according to a document of the US Department of the Interior http://lcweb2.loc.gov/master/pnp/habshaer/ut/ut0500/ut0568/data/ut0568data.pdf

Interestingly the fire bombing of Hamburg was code named Operation Gomorrah.

Either that, or a garden gnome.

yes, Friedman is a Santa Claus figure.
Looks like a Zionist version of Kenny Rogers.
