Yesterday we floated the idea that the NYT’s lawsuit to get access docs related to Baidan Crime Family dealings in Romania (which isn’t news) might be a step toward pressuring Zhou to quit. Obviously that would be contingent on finding a plausible replacement, and that’s a huge problem given the massive unpopularity of the 2nd and 3rd in line.
TGP is wrong. Conviction in the Senate requires 2/3rd majority. 67 senators. Won't happen unless there are a bunch of D senators climbing on the impeachment train.
That's not the real point, because TGP recognizes that conviction is unlikely. TGP is arguing for a GOP House to go forward with impeachment. That's the argument that I find compelling.
I read the TGP link and completely agree it's compelling. Just imagine what the Dems would do with such rich hunting grounds. The fly in the ointment is of course the uniparty nature of most of the Senate GOP -if anyone could make such well-grounded charges look instead like a partisan hit job by the House Republicans, it would be they- but that sad truth is no knock against the basic soundness of the argument at TGP.
But the march to socialism continues. The pentagon is sponsoring Thomas Piketty https://inss.ndu.edu/Events/Event-View/Article/2870082/responding-to-china-the-case-for-global-justice-and-democratic-socialism/

This is a curious item that rolled out a couple of days ago. I'm tucking here for lack of anywhere else to put it -

GOP doesn't really have any incentive to go the 25th route as long as the Dems keep making one mistake after another. It's ugly.
Agreed. Let them continue to slough in the trough of polls downward and bring the whole lot with them.
I should be clear--the GOP helped in a big way to get us to this point.
