That raises the question of what would happen if things truly went to full-scale war. The reality up till now has been that in such events, there are massive civilian casualties ("collateral damage") while the leadership remains intact. That's why the psychopathic neocons probably think they can survive and even win a limited nuclear exchange. However, the Russians now have long-range missiles that can hit most places in the US with great precision. If they know where the neocon leadership will be at any given time, they could take them out without mass civilian casualties. This is of course speculation, and let's hope that things don't reach this point. However, the neocons are seriously deluded if they believe they can escape the consequences of such a scenario.
