Assessments are trickling in. Perhaps the most significant news is that reports state that the US has told Israel that the US—having provided valuable defensive aid—will NOT participate in offensive action against Iran. IOW, if Israel does so they face the possibility of being on their own in future. My guess is that a degree of uncertainty was intentionally generated. The US is also said to be engaged in continuing dialogue with Iran via Oman.
I've had a brief colloquy in the comments section of Mark's post "Briefly But Duly Noted" yesterday and today where we discussed some of the likely true motivations for war in the Middle East, including the War in Iraq 20 some years ago.
As part of my thought process as I commented I went back to a resource I used to regularly access. Its called the Costs of War website administered by Brown University’s Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs.
This website is a terrific resource which is keeping a record of the costs of the Endless War commenced by the US after 9/11 (and probably before...)
Please take a minute to click on the various tabs and take a look at the extraordinary costs of Endless War in human lives, in money spent, and in social and political and environmental consequences. Look at the erosion of civil liberties around the world. Look at the human rights violations, including the indefinite detainment of terror suspects without fair trial, and their torture and mistreatment by the U.S. and partner governments. Look at the indisputable damage to natural environments.
You will see that we are literally engaged in war now across the entire World. Its not just Ukraine and Gaza. It is across virtually the entire world.
We all need to drink that in and reflect deeply on its implications. Ask yourself if you know why we are engaged in this Endless War and who is benefiting. Ask yourself if you are benefiting.
As far as I'm concerned the answers are horrifying.
Article about U.S. funding of pro Ukraine propaganda.
I noticed most of the same people criticizing Ukraine, have also been accused of anti Semitism.
Not mentioned are:

I guess outside the scope is the U.S. deep state backed Russia, Russia narrative including the censorship by the Internet giants of any so called Russian backed disinformation (anything that questions the narrative of Ukraine winning).
Don't you think Netenyahu will retaliate? The whole point of this goes up in smoke if there is a belief that Israel can be deterred. I mean, they have turned Syria into a pinata for the past 15 years because Al-Asaad is too weak or cowardly to defend his country.
There is almost no upside to Bibi calling it a day. While Biden has done his best to get him to stand down, we all know he is bluffing; and if it goes to another round of tit-for-tat the US will absolutely, without a doubt, participate in Israel's defense.
Hypersonic missiles. Who has, and who doesn’t have? I don’t recall the U.S. ever successfully even testing such technology. Let alone proper air defense against such missiles. Short term versus long term thinking. The long term doesn’t bode well for the empire.

Interesting they targeted probably one of the best defended bases in Israel and still managed to get some hits.
<insert laugh emoji here>
Destroy the Iranian nuclear capability and then take the win…
The drones and cruise missiles were just target practice for Israel and the West. This way both Iran and Israel can claim victory.
I’m curious if hypersonic missiles were actually used.
The ship seizure may actually be more important, with the threat to Israel’s economy.

If open borders are good enough for the USA, they should be good enough for our friends the Israelis.
