Cynical maybe but it all looks like distraction from defeat in Ukraine and shaming in Gaza.

Shelby Park? How big is that?

Roberts was trying to do the minimum to avoid a controversial ruling that would upset Democrats and their media friends, and did not expect Texas to defy him. Conservatives usually just roll over.

This is the first contemporary middle finger to the Supreme Court aka Establishment since the Civil War.

Slippery Slope Rule is activated..

Naturally the Uniparty is backing down.

However, the States are smelling blood in the water

Power grabs are in order

As Bob Kagan says, "who knows what that looks like "

Thomas Massie @RepThomasMassie

Everyone is overthinking this.

Congress can render the 5-4 Supreme Court decision against Texas IRRELEVANT by simply refusing to fund Biden’s removal of border security measures.

It really is that simple.

Simplicity suggests it would be understood by everyone even the most simple minded like an over educated liberal, can’t have that.

Ok, Rep. Massie, if it’s that simple then why didn’t you tell Chris Wray no big fancy new building? Sorry, with all due respect sir: I have not been impressed with the stellar track record that the House has in using the Power of the Purse to stop or even curtail a totally out of control government. When you guys start showing me some real world results, then you can tell me I’m overthinking the situation.

I also think that the two Justices have seriously damaged themselves. I agree that the deep state (current administration) has also shown themselves to be foolish (not new) with their game of russian roulette re. the border. You would think that by now, they would be getting a clue that it's not just conservative people who are incensed about the border situation.

Some people are simply unable to learn.

I read that the legacy media hasn't covered the Abbott v. Biden border dust up at all except to crow about the SCOTUS ruling. So, in their world none of this is happening. Omission is one of their favorite ploys.

I noticed this yesterday when the national news (ABC) at the top of the hour on the local talk radio station never mentioned it while the talk radio guys covered it all day and into this morning. Don't know if it made it on the evening news, but the lib media seems more interested in the Trump vs. dingbat case in NYC and carrying water for Haley to prolong the primary.

I read, uncorroborated, that the Border Patrol union chief and rank and file BP officers supported Abbott in this. If true, doubtful the Biden regime wanted the 'optics' of its own federal and unionized officers in a de facto revolt, refusing to remove the wire.

Ray: I saw the same thing over at Gateway and definitely heard something hitting the fan! It sounded to me that the wording from the union was pretty much, “Hey Uncle Joe, why don’t you just take this pissing contest with Texas and shove it, cause we ain’t playing!”.

Gotta love it.

I don't like the GOP taking points on this at all. Several governors have stated Biden can resolve the border problem by using executive discretion. Executive discretion is the cause of the problems- there are laws now in existence that make illegal entry into our country a punishable offense. Biden has used executive discretion to waive punishment and parole into our country. Also, networks keep talking about the thousands that Abbott has sent to sanctuary cities. The talking point should be, where has Biden sent the millions who have been paroled into our country. 85,000 missing children, where is the outrage? When Kirby stated BP needs access to the park to do their job, Peter Doocey should have asked, what job is that? Lining them up and putting them on busses to the nearest airport? It's just plain infuriating.

The government's threats are attempts at scaring the masses. Like the F16 threat. Never gonna happen and if it did those planes would be disabled on the tarmac.

My guess is FBI will arrest Abbott for something while the Dems spin this as a MAGA uprising.

Right. What is the next move? Shock and awe? 6am commando raid on Texas leadership? Per letter from 10 retired senior FBI agents 1.7 million got aways plus millions more migrants is an unprecedented security threat. Zero Hedge had an article about it. It seems as if a number of people in positions to know think that migration is going to lead to security disasters the likes of which Americans have never been exposed to before. Up close and personal. The people who have created this risk are not going to roll over because of razor wire or the ‘don’t mess with Texas’ slogan. They are true believers and think that their political power, enhanced by unlimited millions of undocumented young men from hostile nations who are here to collect welfare and vote for a living, is more important than your personal safety, financial security, and our future viability as a republic. They might step back temporarily for election reasons but after that it is the hammer. ‘What hammer?’ one might ask. The same one that is trying to pound Trump into personal financial oblivion and political destruction. Texas leadership has thrown down the gauntlet in the face of a totalitarian political movement. They will get the same Trump treatment if that movement is not defeated at the ballot box. Everything is on the line. Good to see some R politicians acting like it.

I wouldn't be too sure about that. This time is different. This time they're being faced down and defied. They put the Court's prestige on the line when they didn't need to and may have lost--we'll see. Re Barrett and Roe, it's come out that she initially voted against hearing the Dobbs case, siding with Roberts again. Her brand is becoming established as a weak sister conservative, and this reinforces that. To my surprise, Kavanaugh was much stronger on Dobbs than Barrett.
