Thank you for the shout out. I am curious about the points of disagreement with my article and suggest we do a podcast to discuss them if you would like. I was getting ready to ask you before I read this post after reading through your experiences with the Houthis and the Yemen war.
So, if you'd like I'd be more than happy to set something up. DM or email me and we can discuss it.
If not, no blame, no shame. It's all good. Keep up the excellent work and Merry Fraggin' Christmas!
I think we need to be clear that US "Neocons" = International Zionism. I am not making this up. Let me refer the reader to two major sources. The first is Douglas Reed's classic "The Controversy of Zion" which should be required background reading for anyone interested in the geopolitics of the last century-and-a-quarter since the first Zionist leader showed up in London for a meeting with then-British prime minister Balfour in 1905. The second is Jewish author Murray Friedman's 2005 book "The Neoconservative Revolution: Jewish Intellectuals and the Shaping of Public Policy." The operative word in this title is "Revolution." The Neocons carried out this "revolution" through the Project For A New American Century which resulted in the 9/11 false flag attacks, leading seamlessly to the "War on Terror," taking us to today. The latest is Israel's blaming Hamas "terrorists" for October 7 after their own 75-year terrorist rule with the end of Greater Israel still the goal. The US government is completely the captive of this "revolution." And as Alex Christoforou and Alexander Mercouris have pointed out again and again, the Neocons "have no reverse gear."
Ha! I knew as soon as I began reading that there would be a Tom Luongo conspiracy theory in the mix! His general point that everyone knew about Oct 7th before hand is almost certainly true. But Egyptian debt as a motivator? I doubt it. I wonder how the neocons try and get themselves out of this one.
A most compelling and interesting post, Mark! I usually zap on Luongo, but the Duran Mearsheimer conversation made me drop everything and listen attentively! “A reluctant escalator” in this war is Putin! Near the end, and deploring the absence of open debate and discussion (diplomacy too) to further national security goals, JM scribbles 5 items he sees as potential areas of escalation “after the shooting stops:” the Black Sea, Moldova, Biélorusse, the Baltic states, and the Arctic. Ukraine is truly the gift that keeps on giving. A brilliant discussion.
Agreed about JM's flashpoints. The neocons will no doubt try to put some serious weaponry into Finland and Sweden once they join Nato. And Moldova is run by a cardboard cutout WEF clone. What could go wrong?!
Interesting to hear that you think a direct US attack on China would succeed given the debacle in Ukraine. Have you written about why you think this elsewhere?
I probably overstated the case, but Ray hits on some aspects. Our first strike ability could intimidate China in addition to the blockade of trade routes. Their nukes are not as advanced as US/RU ones. They're working on that. However, RU support would level the playing field and more. So RU first.
The U.S. can currently blockade China via sea, cutting off most of its trade. That would devastate China’s export dependent economy.
China’s land trade routes are increasing, Silk Road, and Chinas naval capabilities are growing rapidly. China’s anti ship missile capabilities are terrifying.
And as mentioned many places, the U.S. is using 10x or more cost anti missiles to shoot down Houthani. And the ships can only be reloaded in port or calm seas. And production is limited.
I saw an interesting item yesterday re the UK destroyer in the area. It's most advanced missiles can take on drones and cruise missiles but not ballistic missiles. The Houthis hit a tanker that was moving at 25 knots the other day--with a ballistic missile. That, apparently, was a major eye opener for the West.
Putin could see the Ukraine war coming from at least 2004. 19 years is a long time for a military and economy to improve.
The 1991 Gulf War and 2003 Iraq invasion were also huge wake up calls for the Chinese and Russian militaries.
And the U.S. bombing of Serbia in 1999 showed NATO was not only defensive.
Russia has re-organized the military before the Ukraine invasion. Tested tactics and technology in Georgia, Syria, and Donbas.
While in the background Putin fixed the Russian Economy, and made it so it could withstand economic sanctions. He could see how the U.S. abused its control of Swift since at least 2013 when pope Benedict was forced to retire due to the U.S. cutting off the Vatican from international transactions since they all flowed through N.Y. Banks for clearing.
How much does Putin know of the corruption in the West?
From Epstein, Wef, Soros, Dei, Clinton E-Mails, U.S. Fortified elections, Color Revolutions, Censorship, blackmail, deep state surveillance, Covid, etc?
When the technology is disproportionally focused on diversity and creating apps for everything on your smart phone there is no intellectual bandwidth left for for real research and development. We have been socially engineered through dumbed down schools systems to stare at a square headed friend and nothing else.
And MBA’s and Lawyers that run our defense industries don’t like Risk. Risk can impact their companies financial results, upsetting Wall Street and resulting in a lower stock price.
Combined with a risk adverse military procurement culture , where top officials parachute after retirement into defense firms.
And add to that the massive consolidation in the defense industry, thanks bill clinton, that reduced or eliminated a lot of competition.
So the U.S. is stuck with a lot of Cold War era technology we just make more of.
Hey Ray good point. I've been meaning to ask have you been a player in the defense industry? I note you lay claim to SoCal and I know our defense industry has a huge footprint in SoCal. I spent a number years circulating in and around LAX where many of the major contractors operate in LA 9and great LA) as well as San Diego. Our MIC is really an unproductive, out of touch group of incompetents. The period under Clinton (as you pointed out) then Obama are two instances where the military, under the consolidation of the previous 20 years became so incredibly dysfunctional. Yes, there are a lot of high ranking retired former officials who rake in dough to pull contracts in and this simply assures further dysfunction the result a lot of out of date Cold war era hardware.
I briefly worked for a couple of downstream suppliers a long time ago. Unfortunately, when my career started the cold war was winding down and a lot of the defense industry moved out of state. Huge layoffs due to consolidation and moving. A friend went from 1600 at his division to 100, he was one of the survivors.
My knowledge comes more from reading, and military stuff has been a hobby of mine, along politics and business/ technology.
The success of Russia in Ukraine has been a huge surprise to me, especially in their anti missile capabilities.
I’ve learned a lot from Col. Macgregor and Simplicitius.
The US war machine is a paper tiger considering ‘shock and awe’ will dissolve in the face of ‘nip and gnaw’. Sadly, the US economy is also more paper than tiger it seems.
US has already practically given away the entire US to China. Therefore the only possible excuse for "war" with China is to force US peasants to remain enslaved to the weapons industry. “The Deep State…considers global conflict as the price to pay for maintaining its largesse from the US taxpayer. Continuous warfare is its only business product.”...per Philip Giraldi, Nov. 2019
What kind of fruit has the neocon's stupidity, hubris, insanity and evil produced this day, or or any other day? It is difficult to predict exactly which of their fruits will ripen from day to day, the neocon's tree is certain to bear nothing but bad fruit. I cannot think of a single one of the neocon's schemes being beneficial to mankind, either short term or long term.
"The "global South" is watching, but it seems our naked Emperor is full of bluster, smugly swaggering as if it were still 1991."
This emperor may be naked, but swaggering I doubt as he cannot climb a set of stairs without falling on his face and he is the least of our worries. Our worries are the idiots in our congress who are running scared of the Zionists who own them and our government and are directing the policies that are the destruction of the United States. The destruction will be complete once they have siphoned off all the wealth left of the middle class, have sufficient numbers of immigrants of military age who will be paid to sow chaos and death within our borders.

Wow - mind changing post!
Basically Russia can now shoot down most of the time the latest Western Missiles.
And the West is at least a decade away from doing the reverse.

That's probably the most amazing fact to come out of the last few years: just how blind-sided the West has been by Russian technological developments.
The continued smug assumption that expensive means good, and most expensive means best...

We Americans truly do not know what is going on.
Nov 2024 will be 'interesting' as the pols attempt to obtain our votes without telling us what is going on.
Or who we voted for.

Goal achieved: enrichment of the MIC. No other goal. All wars are good for business. Peace is for losers.
“Grokking”from Stranger In A Strange Land, Robert Heinlein, big hippie book back in the day.
well written.
I think we are coming close to a real pivot point of generational History.
That pivot being the sinking/scuttling of a US warship by Houthi Missile.
After this, the world will be watching the US response.
