Three black trucks with United States government plates were spotted at the home of Ohio Senator and rumored vice presidential candidate JD Vance on Saturday. [cut] Vance, a big favorite with Trump's MAGA base, saw the extra protection at his house following the assassination attempt on Trump that the former president miraculously survived, with Vance blaming Joe Biden for the rhetoric leading to it. Some speculated on social media upon noticing the black trucks that they might be Secret Service agents, leading many to wonder if Vance had officially won the veepstakes. Trump is expected to make the announcement at...

If true, and it looks like it is, it could have been a lot worse.

Haven't seen enough of him to definitively opine, but as I preliminarily see it:

Pros: Incredibly bright and eloquent and, by all accounts, a high-character guy (military, family man, etc.). Sort of balances Trump out on those scores. His image is built on being a MAGA true-believer, so, he will be called out by the MAGA base if he strays too far. He will wipe the floor with anyone who shows up for the Veep debate (assuming there is one, and that's a BIG if).

Cons: While skeptical on extended Ukraine support, unyielding in support of IL actions in Gaza, etc. Owes his meteoric rise in finance/tech to huge VC movers like Thiel and Andreessen, raising sincerity questions for his MAGA image.

Very good short summary. Also, a Pro is that he will help with the Midwestern swing states (or at least that is the hope); a Con is that he appears to be a China hawk.

I'd expect as much. Trump campaign this time around seems much more disciplined and professional. I imagine they've run all their traps for any major surprises. Of course, this won't stop the MSM from blowing anything they find out of any and all proportion to reality.

Also, a "con" I forgot...never-Trump history, including 2016 assessment of Trump as "American H!tler." Has a decent explanation for evolution of his views, but these sorts of past statements will be YUGE Dem advertising fodder.

Only time will tell on that one. I hope he's the pitbull that DJT needs, not the turncoat chihuahua that Pence was.

I probably should have mentioned this in the main article. Justice Clarence Thomas has pointed out this issue--the unconstitutional appointment--at least twice in SCOTUS opinions.

A lot of good news over these last few days: Trump survived, this case thrown out, the Dems exposing their true nature once again...I don't see how they can throw any more dodgy court cases at him and make them stick. Of course, they'll try to cheat again, but even that doesn't look like it will work this time. As for donors, even Bill Ackman is going over to Trump.

They will make plenty of trouble if he does win. Trump is going to have to clean out all holdover appointments and be pretty ruthless in house cleaning.

He has evidently rewritten his speech to the RNC from a barn burning tirade about Biden and Co to one calling for unity.

Agreed, History. I'm still not convinced, even after this, whether he's going to go full flamethrower on the Deep State if he gets back in. I guess his VP pick will tell us a lot.

No big donor campaign cash coming in and the inability to vilify Trump pretty much ends Biden's campaign.

No doubt. The 'October Surprise' has been an expected campaign feature the past few decades. The Dim's will have to come out of their demoralized stupor to pick the best and most believable one they have on the shelf - and it can't include more lawfare as they're out of time on that front. Plus, they've worn out the Russia hoax, so something more thoughtful would likely be needed. What it will be, we'll have to wait and see.

Yes, it's concerning to hear stuff like that. OTOH, Assuming Trump wins, he doesn't become CinC until Jan 20. There's a lot that could and most likely *will* happen in those 6 mos. The hope has to be that there will be some learning going on based on those events that will discourage Trump from following up on his crazy campaign rhetoric re war and favor expanding his peace initiatives from Russia to the Middle East. Again, some of his major donors--and reports are that Musk's donations will dwarf Adelson's--are on record in opposition to Israeli genocide. Adelson is reported to have set up a $100M trust account for Trump to draw on--details not known, but she's a goofball Zionist. OTOH, Musk is reported to have pledged $45M per month. Sacks, too, is a major donor who is definitely opposed to what's going on.

Interestingly, that Glick interview is confirmation coming from the most wacko Zionist fringe--something to keep in mind, consider the source--that they know they can't beat Hezbollah. They think the US can, but most observers doubt that, too.

Correct. Not necessarily good news. But there is possible good news even on the donor front. Neither Musk nor Sacks--very major donors now--are on board with genocide. That could balance out the Adelson money. Especially since this should be the last time Trump runs.

I said this before in another post, this is Trumps last election. Adelson’s money doesn’t matter that much any more, he doesn’t have to make her happy.
