Larry Johnson has an intriguing post this morning in which he comments on reports of leaks of two Top Secret documents that discuss Israeli preparation for an attack on Iran.
In your post titled, "Russia, Iran, Israel, US--A Dialog", you made a very insightful comment in response to American Cardigan, "The current geopolitical situation is highly fluid and the status quo will not remain--not even in a degraded form. Well, that's my prediction. America, one way or another, will be forced to focus on its own very real problems."
If we get involved in going up against Iran, I fear us getting into a quagmire. Either that, or we sustain heavy casualties and pull out quickly. I don't see how it ends well for us. That leads us to abandoning our role as the world's policeman. In that vein, I share a link to an article I think you'll find interesting. It jibes with your quote above. It's titled Delusion in DC, written by Josiah Lippincott and found on American Greatness at https://amgreatness.com/2024/10/18/delusion-in-dc/
Thanks, I'll check that out. I like his premise as I understand it--that Liberalism, in the broad sense that includes Right and Left, is a delusion. A false philosophy, not a real philosophy but an ideology at odds with and opposed to the reality of human nature.
I think I may have skimmed that article before. In general I agree with it, but his concept of what the Liberal world order--that of the Western ruling classes--lacks philosophical depth. What I mean--25 or less version--is that the attempt at world dominance flows from a false ideology. We need as a nation/culture to overcome that false ideology and replace it--we need a spiritual and philosophical makeover or else we'll continue down the destructive paths that we're on.
One more specific criticism--although I largely agree. The author maintains that Russia is seeking in Ukraine to exercise control over what they see as their legitimate "sphere of influence." That concept is a relic of the West's colonial and neocolonial heritage. But Russia, correctly, sees Ukraine is an integral part of its total culture and history, not as a "sphere of influence." The inability to understand this Russian perspective is a sign that the author still needs to break free from liberal ideology.
From my limited understanding of Israel's and Iran's relative strengths and weaknesses, Israel's best chance for 'success', which I am not endorsing, seems to be a preemptive heavy strike. If that doesn't work, it seems to me, that Israel is then at the mercy of Iran. Rather than step back from the abyss, which I understand he can't do, or he is finished, maybe to the point of being jailed by Israel, Netanyahu is like a cornered animal. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think Israel is going to stand down. They appear set on going for double or nothing.
Concur. This is the Israel's one and possibly only chance to take out their "existential threat"as they see it. Why waste the opportunity? What does Benny have to fall back on? His losses in Gaza or Lebanon?
No, it is hero or zero time. Roll the dice and make sure you win.
I agree with your thinking that Israel is not going to stand down. It's just as Mark wrote: "Things have a way of getting out of control, and we are dealing with real crazies." Netanyahu has a god complex, IMO. He and his orcs feel they are the superior beings, and their destiny as 'the chosen people' is to reclaim the land that that has been divinely promised to them. This land, the Levant, includes the Middle East, Cyprus, and Greece. The inhabitants of these countries are sub-human to the Zionist Israelites, so killing them in the effort to get the land is permitted. Brutality and cruelty are sanctioned in this effort.
Yes, they are crazies. And they are supported by neocon Anglo Zionist warmonger crazies. A bad brew.

I enjoyed reading the link, such wishful thinking.

Thanks again.
