trump has proven he bows to the will of the deep state - we can argue about intentions. all trump needs is a false false flag event and he will proudly step in the spotlight to become the grand marshall of his beautiful ww3.

That’s a huge stretch and not supported by any facts.

Re how he would react to a false flag event has to be a concern. The rhetoric makes him vulnerable.

and i would venture to say, if trump was the ww3 leader, magas would cheer him on instead of pushing him to put on the brakes.

Are you big mad your candidate didn’t get the votes or are you

“sympathetic” to foreign interests?

I don't think the polling supports that statement.

I agree unless you factor in the Christian Zionists.

I suppose it depends on what you mean by MAGA. I don't think those folks are MAGA, just wacked.

I agreed the polls don't support k crybs comment and I meant the Christians Zionists would root for WWIII, they seem to be in lock step with war as demonstrated by the speaker of the house, Johnson and those who stand with Israel on genocide. Most people I know who identify as Trump supporters or MAGA do not support genocide in Palestine nor do they wish to go to war with Russia.

I haven't watched the David Sacks clip, but I agree with the summary. It's unacceptably high risk. I pulled together my own post on this, and hastily published it. If anyoe cares to read. Excuse the typos. i didn't proofread it. I just cranked it out.

I'm probably lean more pro-Trump than most here.

This election is a binary choice. RFK Jr. is not one of those choices, much as I wish he were. Trump isn't the perfect candidate and he isn't nearly anti-war enough to be in alignment with my own views but Biden is by far and away the biggest danger. David Sacks is exactly right. If Biden manages to win a second term, the MIC will push us into full blown war with Russia and Biden will do what he has done all along - go right along with it.

Of course, it is talk like this that landed David Sacks on the latest enemy list out of Ukraine - from a NGO that is funded by the US State Department no less.

It’s not Biden that’s a threat, he’s too mentally far gone to decide anything, it’s the people managing him that is frightening. They are steering a mentally challenged senior to do things no mentally competent or sane person would do. They are self-serving plutocrats exacting revenge on historical enemies with no regard for consequences just as long as they capture more wealth and power.

It's very hard to predict what Trump will do. It depends whose whispering in his ear at any given moment. His choice of VP and closest advisors might give us a clue.

Expand full comment

Seems to be so. But I think his VP choice will be Ben Carson. Although that would be a choice I like, unfortunately it wouldn't provide any clue as to foreign policy. His picking Rubio or Scott would be a catastrophe for foreign policy (or if he gave them cabinet positions). Burgum would be neutral (but why would he pick Burgum) and Vance would maybe be good. I would look more to his cabinet selections as indicators (for heaven's sake and ours he needs to keep Pompeo out of the administration).

Thus far, no one in DJT " inner circle ", advisors or " possible VP" picks inspire any confidence for me.

I am quite interested to hear DJT views on Cuba playing host to the Russian Navy for a few weeks😁😁

Putin has nerves of steel, and as someone here recently said, the patience of a Taoist monk and I would add a Grand

Master of Chess.

I imagine Dmitry Medevev grinning like a Cheshire cat in the halls of the Kremlin.

Interesting times indeed

So you all didn’t like four years of no wars?

We may not be certain what Trump will do about Ukraine should he get a second term but we can be quite certain what Biden will do - escalate. The choice, therefore, is clear. Vote Trump to give peace a chance.

Agreed. Trump is probably less likely to irradiate the planet.

In many elections, voting for the lesser of two evils may not be compelling and some people may choose to simply stay home or vote for a 3rd party that has zero chance. With WW3 and global thermonuclear destruction a very real possibility, that doesn't apply to this election. Trump gives us a better chance to avoid WW3. Put everything else aside. That alone is enough reason to vote for him. I can think of a hundred serious complaints about Trump - starting with his Covid response - but nothing compares to the importance of avoiding WW3 in this moment.

Agree! However will Trump be allowed to win, or will we see another version of 2020 happen before our eyes?

Aye, Lass, there’s the rub! (Apologies to Bill Shakespeare) I remain unconvinced that these miserable wretches will give up the levers of power, let alone allow DJT to ever set foot in the White House again.

There’s a nasty surprise lurking out there for us, not sure what form it will take, but the little hairs on the back of my neck are standing up.

Call me paranoid, but I can’t see them going quietly.

They will do everything possible to prevent him from winning. No question about that.

In terms of stealing elections, I can only report what I am doing in my own community (in a swing state). I am harvesting ballots. And I have applied to be a poll watcher. These are things I never would have done prior to 2020. If everybody steps up, it'll be 1000x harder to steal the election this time. If the country really legitimately votes for Biden and wants war with Russia then so be it. But I'm going to everything I can personally to make sure that the election is fair. I strongly recommend everyone do the same - especially if you live in a swing state.

I still believe they are going to do everything possible to stop him.

I think it might depend on what else happens between now and the DNC convention or so

Well, of course we have to hope that David Sacks is right and that he got that clear promise from Trump in San Francisco. In the meantime not many are convinced.

Jeffrey Sachs certainly is not.

It will be most interesting to hear how Trump handles the question as the spotlight turns on him and debate season arrives.

I recommend Sachs recent interview with Tucker Carlson. He borders on glib at times and a little too full of himself for my tastes. But as an overview of how we got to here with the war in Ukraine, it is very valuable.
