Your reasoning, Mark, is faultlessly logical, and I think for that reason you have reached a wrong conclusion. The actions of the Biden Administration, whoever may be in day to day charge of it, are not the actions of people worried about having to face an election. Leaving American citizens behind in Afghanistan, seeking financially ruin Navy SEALS, these are the actions of people who know they can steal the next election, just as they stole the last one. A lot of what they have done could be put down to malignant stupidity, but the I think there's more to it than that. They know that the polls don't matter anymore. And if you want to, you can say that their belief is wrong, but I think they really do believe it.

My 94-year-old mother lives in the Independent Living portion of a retirement home of 350 seniors that contains an 89 bed Skilled Nursing component. She received a memo from the Executive Director yesterday that stated that 35 patients in Skilled Nursing are currently Covid positive, despite the fact that 100% have been fully vaxxed.

I agree it is too late. When some on the left poo-poo'd the affect of Afghanistan failures on Biden in the long run, my reaction was that it might not directly impact support and polling, but it is an example of failure that will permeate everyone's impressions of Biden's efficacy. I see more signs of that happening in recent weeks. Covid, Afghanistan, energy policy, inflation, shortages--the failures are cumulative. Even a resounding success on one front will not save Biden or the Democrats.

I think Biden's failures have reached the point of no return. So Dems will be toast at midterms. Question is, will the GOP share in some of the blame going forward for Biden's last half of his term, or will Biden share credit if things improve. Things could still change in time for midterms (though I don't suspect it will), but 3 years is a couple lifetimes in politics. The GOP is going to have to play things smart those last two Biden years.

My guess was end of the year with the phase out of the pcr test was the planned victory over Covid date.

"What they need to do is put the general population back to sleep, and that won't be done with more tyranny. It will be done in the short term with a red-state savior like Ron DeSantis, and some new fake move to conservatism, as with Reagan. Before they reverse you into1950, they have to reverse you into 1980."

"Notice how much the current playbook resembles the Carter-to-Reagan playbook, except that it is now on steroids. Everything now has to be ten times as noisy, to puncture the general stupor. Carter the Democrat made a huge mess of everything (I now think on purpose) and Reagan the Republican rode in to save the day, reinvigorating the Republican Party for 12 years. In that playbook, THE REPUBLICAN PARTY WAS SOLD HEAVILY AS THE PARTY OF THE MIDDLE CLASS and even the poor, with downtrodden farmers supporting Reagan, and Southerners, and even minorities. Given hindsight, it now looks like a big joke, but IT WORKED. THE ENTIRE COUNTRY WAS MOVED HARD RIGHT, and that move was so successful and so permanent not even Bill Clinton could move it back. He didn't even try, running as a moderate or “conservative” Democrat, remember? The Republican party had moved so far right the Democratic party had to follow it right, AND THE COUNTRY HAS NEVER MOVED BACK"

Biden could have done this in April, and I expected him to do it in April. I don't think it can be done now without ending the testing regime at the same time. We are probably only a week or two maximum from the upswing in the Fall/Winter wave- so if they are going to do it, it needs to be in the next week.

As President Trump has pointed out, unless something is done about the 2020 election fraud, the Democrats have no reason not to double down on their effort to control everything. If fortifying elections is the norm, as he pointed out Republicans won't even take the trouble to vote. The media is of course telling us that things have never been better.

If they would do it because it was true in the first place, and at every single level, including that one, we never should have been forced to wear masks; two, they never should have been social distancing and lockdowns; three, we should have protected the most vulnerable, especially the elderly, but never have kept families from visiting them; four, they never should have vilified HCQ, which truly is an effective early treatment; five, the same goes for ivermectin; six, the same goes for their new villain - aspirin; seven, that they never should have hid the true numbers including the ones about the nasty And sometimes deadly side effects of the so-called vaccines; and I'll stop there, but that list can go on and on and on. They have lied about this from the start, and may their ship sink, along with them and all their lies.

Two things. 1. I certainly would not piss off Navy seals.

2. Its too late for me, can't go back. Already received my first employer mandated vaccinations.

I think they'll double down on the fear porn and double down on the pressure to vaccinate everyone. They're so close to their passport, you know they want it badly.

The instant the Democratic Party jumped in bed with it's radical Left Marxist factions, they were totally screwed, strategically. They can't move to the middle without alienating their increasingly hard-core 'progressive' Leftists and they can't move farther left without *continuing* to alienate the vast majority of their own 'traditional' base.

And everything swirling around the Covid bowl has been a left of left initiative;

Virtually every poll out there now shows he's lost Hispanic, Black, Union and Independents.

There isn't any coming back from it, no matter what part of the political continuum you choose.

Don Surber has a good piece on why it's almost certainly too late to turn this clown show around--which is fine by me:

https://donsurber.blogspot.com/2021/10/the-mandate-should-bring-biden-down.html

The rebellion against the mandate is gathering steam -- and support from the courts.

The New York Times reported, "Across the U.S., clashes intensify between city officials and the police over vaccination issues."

Democrats, RINOs, and woke CEOs are discarding the frontline heroes of 2020 who showed up for work despite covid. The mandate to vaccinate whether you need to or not is stupid, unAmerican, and unnecessary.

Of course the same could be said about lockdowns, mask mandates and social distancing. None stopped the spread of covid. Politicians have wasted time and credibility on bullying.

The tide has turned.
