Apparently Johnson wasn't impressed with Turtle, Chuckie, and Zhou. And why would he be?

BREAKING: Speaker Mike Johnson tells reporters of his White House meeting on the $60 billion Ukraine funding supplemental:

""It was frank and honest...then I had a one-on-one for a period of time with the president, just he and I in the Oval Office."

"My purpose was to express what I believe is the obvious truth, that we must take care of America's need first. When you talk about America's needs, you have to talk fist about our open border."

"The first priority of the country is our border, and making sure it's secure. I believe the President can take executive authority right now to change that. And I told him that again today in person."

@Mark

You wrote: "Black Americans in particular resent all the money being sent to Ukraine—"

I wonder. I wonder how many voting age Black Americans are aware...or care... that there is a war in Ukraine, let alone that we are subsidizing it.

Trump has been making great efforts to find Black votes, but I suspect its an uphill battle as the Black Dem machine is all about ballot harvesting, victim politics and handouts. Not sure how you turn that around...

Of course that's not a scientific sample, but of those I've heard speaking about Ukraine that seems to be a consistent refrain. You're right--that doesn't change the machine voting.

Hello Mark great to hear you took a day off from the insane frenzy that passes for news these days.

If I may suggest the post for the next mental health day: Day off for mental health: This Means You Too. More good news tomorrow!

Zhou surrounded by shallow, echo chamber thinkers.

Now that Thune’s on board how long before McConnell? Last time it took Trump promising to employ his wife. Is the ante upped or ignored?

Thune (the quintessential "right hand man") has never come out in opposition to any McConnell position before to my knowledge. I think this means McConnell's day is done - as it should be and as is likely inevitable given his health and the public enmity between him and Trump. Thune now knows that if he wants to be majority leader there is no other choice but to support Trump and be on good terms with him. This is also a signal that official Washington is coming to terms with a Trump victory. Good news, indeed.

Actually, as I think about it, there’s rabid attempt to recall the mayor of Oakland, CA. Her black opponent is slamming the exploitatitive behavior of more than one ‘power hungry black woman.’ Check out @SenecaSpeaks21.

‘Power hungry black woman.’ There seems to be a surfeit of those these days. And being obese seems to be part of the deal too. Stacy Abrams was the prototype.

Ha! that figure is the same as Macron’s approval rating! Speaking of “upping the ante,” the idea of a renewed Trump presidency is causing Euro hairdos to catch on fire! Witness Macron (a “clever fool”, as the inimitable Mercouris calls him) calling for possibly sending Nato troops to Ukraine. AM calls such war mongering rhetoric “grandiose and inflated.” He used the same warlike language during the Covid pandémie (“We are at war” - “Nous sommes en guerre”) - how’d that work out for Bonaparte, whose armies had subdued most of Europe…We know people who voted Macron, explaining they just couldn’t possibly vote for the “Far Right.” Would they send their children to die for Zelensky? Attal and Macron have no children.
