Briefly: US Politics In Flux

Today was a mental health day—reading and writing, day in day out, about everything that’s going wrong requires a break every now and then. But there are signs that the American people waking up. Nothing’s guaranteed, but I constitutionally prefer to be optimistic. Even if everything breaks toward my preferences, there will still be plenty to worry about—but I’m ready for some silver lining.

So here’s what I mean. Most of the polling is very negative for the Zhou regime from a policy standpoint. The regime gets very low approval ratings on the issues that matter most to most voters. That boils down to the open border policy and economic policy. Economic policy, of course, is a mixtum gatherum of factors, but what it comes out to is an emotional reaction on the part of the middle class that, cut it any way you want, we’re getting crushed. Food prices, housing prices, energy prices, etc. It all adds up to that reaction, no matter the various factors that go into it. The open border policy, by comparison, is utterly simple. The Ruling Class removed Trump and opened the borders. It’s that simple.

The reaction is building. Today polls are telling us that, for the first time, a majority of Americans favor building Trump’s wall. And whaddaya know? Zhou is scheduling a trip to the border. No, he’s not scheduling a policy shift—he can’’t, because of the people who support him. But public opinion is forcing him to attempt to fool more people than the Ruling Class ever thought they’d need to fool. That’s progress.

On the economic policy front, the regime has stopped talking about “Bidenomics.” They thought that would be a winner. Now they’re trying to avoid drawing attention to the economy. Again, progress. Moreover, lurking in the weeds there are changes in attitudes that factor into the rejection of Bidenomics: The growing realization that Covid was a hoax (to put it kindly), as witness the refusal to reup the injections; the dawning awareness that EVs are a scam and that we’re better off burning gas; the lack of enthusiasm for climate hysteria and all the policy craziness that flows from is another indicator.

Foreign policy doesn’t draw the polling numbers that domestic policy does. Nevertheless, on the margins in swing states foreign policy can be important. Today’s MI primary, where Middle Eastern Americans constitute the largest such bloc in the country, could give us some data. Middle Eastern Americans have traditionally swung heavily Dem, but now they’ve finally come to the realization that US foreign policy in the Middle East is dictated from Tel Aviv, and they’re heavily disaffected. So, too, are other key Dem groups, such as younger Americans. It took a genocide to get them to this point, but that’s progress. And the regime is having to react. The reaction is via gaslighting and outright lies, like the suggestion that a ceasefire is just around the corner. The point is that the regime recognizes that it has a serious problem.

This morning Sundance cited some interesting data from Maine. It appears that in at least one congressional district there Trump has a big lead—but the GOP candidate trails the Dem. The big issue in Maine is the economy. What would you do if you were that GOP congressional candidate? If it were me, I’d start trying to figure out how Trump built his lead and looking for a way to imitate Trump. A good way to start would be to start speaking Trump’s name favorably. I note that just the other day John Thune—a RINO’s RINO if ever there was one—came out for Trump. Even the Dumb Party is starting to get it. If you’re a GOPer and you want to keep feeding at the DC trough, you’d better find a way to reach out to Trump’s base.

One way to do that is becoming clear. Today I watched a couple Danny Davis vids. Davis, of course, was focused on foreign policy. Currently, the Zhou regime is heavily focused on gaslighting the public in order to pressure Congress into sending big money to Ukraine. That’s baked into the Zhou regime due to who gives them money. But in the video clips that Davis included, what jumped out is that GOPers increasingly realize that they have little to be concerned about from the “Putin - Russia” fear mongering. Both Speaker Mike Johnson and Sen. J. D. Vance came out with the same response—with specific reference to the borders: We need to fix America’s problems first, before we worry about a country that most Americans couldn’t find on a map. Does that sound a bit like a new version of MAGA? I think so.

The GOPers are positioning themselves as the America First party, and they know that they have the majority of Americans on their side. There’s still a lot of work before any deal is closed, but it’s a good position to be in at this point in time. The borders are right at the top of issues that are hot buttons for Americans, and from there it’s an easy pivot to all the other things that Americans see going wrong with our country.

Now, I said that foreign policy isn’t on the radar for most Americans. However, to the extent that it does register, it’s bad news for the Dems. Black Americans in particular resent all the money being sent to Ukraine—and I suspect they’re not alone in that feeling. Increasing numbers of Americans are disillusioned being complicit with Israeli genocide. The regime’s need to gaslight Americans on both scores is a tell that they know they have a problem. When Victoria Nuland and Tony Blinken have to repeatedly gaslight us about all the money flowing to the MIC while Ukrainians die by the hundreds of thousands, that’s desperation—it’s an argument that simply doesn’t resonate with normal people. Normal people are disgusted by talk like that—even Lindsey! appears to have backed off from that a bit. Same goes for the gaslighting about getting Israel to stop its genocide, even temporarily. The more people learn, the queasier they get.

It goes without saying that GOPer hands are far from clean on these foreign policy issues. Nevertheless, the new mantra of, Let’s deal with America’s problems first, puts them out in front. They could find themselves in the position of being able to say, Well, we got a few things wrong, but we had the big picture right—America first—whereas the Dems are the ones who got us in the fix we find ourselves in. And bear in mind, while foreign policy isn’t currently on most people’s minds there are a lot of situations heading south that could be attention grabbers in the months before November. Again, nothing is guaranteed. Stopping what’s currently happening or even just slowing it down is definitely not the full cure. But it sure would be a start.
