I am going to give Elon the benefit of the doubt here and “wait and see.” We don’t know everything he knows, and this might be a smart move to counter WEF efforts to sabotage Twitter. Keep your enemies close kind of thing. Musk is not WEF, and I’ll guess not everyone in the WEF orbit is rabidly loyal to that organization, and besides, she went to Penn State.
All of the above, except maybe Penn State. However, it's true that not everyone associated with a particular outfit is committed--guilt by association can't be an ironclad rule, although association raises legit suspicions. Musk moves in a very different world than we do and may be--assuredly is--out of touch with our world in certain respects. But the proof is in the pudding. For now, wait and see. Support the people you know are on our side.
Oh, no... I didn't mean YOU Mark, I meant a general "you" - so I wasn't intending to be accusatory of anything you have said in the least. I agree about overreacting to the "young leaders" thing - as we have seen some people are designated as such who have not been active with the WEF in the least; on the other hand this woman was/is a Chairperson, which indicates not only active involvement but leadership. I'm not saying at this point that Musk will turn Twitter into a WEF tool but I fail to understand why he would open himself up to even the suspicion of that being the case. As you say time will tell.
I'm very skeptical. There are a lot of people in the world with marketing backgrounds and great credentials who are not active leaders in WEF initiatives. Are you trying to tell me Musk did not know this would arouse a great deal of suspicion of where his head is at and what his motives for Twitter are?
For many, the WEF has such an association with totalitarianism in general and neo-feudalism in particular that Musk's hiring of her seems absolutely contradictory to his history of statements regarding free speech. Will we ever get an explanation for this? I doubt it.
In this situation I'm trying to tell anybody anything--except to be careful to understand the business about Young Leaders. OTOH, the scheme of Musk hiring someone with real WEF connections that are known to everyone in order to turn Twitter into a WEF tool seems ... a bit too obvious? Time will tell. Sometimes people do obviously bent things, but I'd want to tread carefully here.
Swag - Musk is looking to take market share from YouTube and podcasts. Her hiring is aimed at Google.
On WEF ties, we need to wait and see. I’m not sure Musk can hire anyone of this caliber in the advertising industry without woke credentials. I’m not sure such a person exists.
May be he lured / bribed her with huge stock options / the opportunity to be filthy rich if she performs and grows Twitter, red pills a bit on free speech, by taking marketshare from Google.
Maybe the white pill argument is that it is a victory to pull people from the WEF and "turn" them. I can accept that she might be an opportunist. Same with Musk, quite likely. I once posited to Luongo on his Patreon whether he thought Musk had been "recruited" to buy twitter and Luongo said he thought so. It'll be interesting to see Luongo's take after a couple of days to mull it over. I am wary of everyone, it seems, but hopeful that the "Good Guys," (whoever they may be,) win.
They discuss his plans, then she's saying she wants to influence him, and he seems to draw a line, citing free speech.

The WEF associated future CEO of Twitter promotes influence peddling for advertisers & content moderation that makes advertisers comfortable. We know what happens when you give corporations and their political puppets power over content. I don’t like this.
Agreed. But OTOH, from an ad exec perspective, how do you sell advertising for an opinion platform like Twitter without talking to potential clients about presentation and influence? Musk makes a logical response: I'm willing to allow clients to dictate where there ads are placed on Twitter, but if they want to influence the platform generally they can walk. These are legit points because this is a different kind of platform. But that could all change with his plans going forward.
I like Robert Barnes' contrarian hypothesis that yaccario may have been playing along to get along in the corporate world. Consider, musk has access to her dm's, and yaccario did serve a panel appt under trump at a time when that was the third rail of the establishment . I know MW is no fan of Barnes (I am!), But this take is in line with not setting a torch to your $4b investment and every principled stand on free speech you've made over that year or so. But who knows at this point. Just trying to make sense of a move that SEEMS very lame for a smart guy like musk.
I hope I can keep an open mind. That's a legit argument that Barnes makes, and one that I've considered and have not rejected. Consult the video in my latest comment. Clearly Musk wants a top ad person, but it also seems clear that he's not going to relinquish control. Time will tell.
Guess who was the Chair of the Ad Council that drove the partnership between global corporations and the US Government to push vaccines during COVID… 👇💉
It seems that any institution/corporation/entity of any significant size or influence becomes captured by the New Marxists. I fear that Tucker is making a mistake relying upon Twitter. Twitter has shown itself to be vulnerable to control and manipulation by nefarious actors in the recent past. It will happen again in the future in my opinion.
"Young Global Leader" is not a permanent position. In fact, it doesn't necessarily mean that the person so designated participated in the program--only that they were invited and presumably targeted for potential recruitment. It doesn't mean that they were in fact taught the secret handshake and so forth. Putin was one, too, and if you think he's a Schwab puppet then I'll tell you you're out of your mind. I believe Tulsi Gabbard is in the category of invited but didn't attend. And your links, on first glance, look rather dodgy--IMO. Take the tin foil off and do some critical thinking:
I didn't claim Musk was getting direct orders from Schwab or any of that. No specific comment on Gabbard, but I do think you're absolutely right to put her in that same bucket.
It's hard for me to guess what you'll consider dodgy or misleading. But I guess I'll find out when you ban me! You are certainly as deserving as anyone of a tidy echo chamber.
Meanwhile, as always, I would encourage you or any reader to have a more-than-superficial glance at those links, and do some corroborating research on their own.

Out of touch with average people? It's a thing.

Kinda like college athletics recruiting.
I can see that possibility.
If she stays in I will be out. Of course she will influence musk. WEF is big and infiltrated in most governments and businesses.
No thank you.

Lots of eyeballs is a benefit too

It was nice while it lasted. This is down payment for the 40B @ElonMusk has to pay back.
#TwitterFiles offered hope for @Twitter, which is now lost. Hopefully Tucker reconsiders.
We will not be deterred. The struggle continues with Locals, Rumble, Substack, Valuetainment, Rogan, Taibbi, etc.

What did Bill Hicks say about those who worked in advertising...?
My thought as well!
Um. You know that Musk is himself a Young Global Leader? Doesn't that seem relevant?
I'm not the type of person to say atodaso, but you know what? Atodaso.

Don’t under estimate Musk’s influence. One word responses to tweets. See Philip Bump. WAPO. Still stinging.
