Sam Faddis has an intriguing if somewhat ahistorical post today that posits a Chinese sneak attack on the US Navy similar to Pearl Harbor. Makes sense that China would cripple the US fleet rather than risk invading Taiwan. Alot of advantages. Unlikely the current Regime would retaliate w nukes. US unlikely to rebuild ships like it did after Pearl Harbor. Very likely Taiwan would capitulate in the face of a neutered US military. Heck, other Asian nations might fall in line too. The US might discover that we are truly hated all over the globe and once our ability to bribe or extort is gone, that hatred will come out in full view. Nobody likes a loser and the US has the stench of a loser nowadays.

Since this is a briefly noted post, what do we make of the cruel and bizarre lockdowns in Shanghai and perhaps spreading to other cities in China? There's been alot of speculation about it but none of it explains this extreme action. China Insights has offered up a tantalizing possibility that there is a fierce power struggle between Xi and rival Zhiang Zemin. Zemin's power base is apparently in Shanghai. Speculation is that Xi is using the lockdown there to destroy Zemin's support and weed out enemies. China Insights recently noted that the CCP has been cracking down hard on anyone trying to leave China or move capital offshore. The government seems to be looking for anyone w even faintly disloyal attitudes and cutting up their passports. Perhaps the Zero Wuflu policy is just a cover for a massive political and social purge.

First random reaction: I am strangely relieved and even thankful to God that Russia developed hypersonic weapons well before the OGUS. Does anyone think, in the current evil days, that OGUS wouldn't try a nuclear first strike on Russia if it had hypersonics and Russia didn't?

Larry Johnson re Finland:

https://sonar21.com/finland-plans-to-join-nato-the-last-desperate-act/

Among other pithy comments:

In 2020, Finland’s exports were valued at 66 billion dollars. You understand what a relatively paltry figure that is when you consider that the United States is proposing 40 billion dollars to try to prop up the failing Ukrainian military.

Finland’s military–25,000 personnel–is the equivalent of two U.S. military divisions. Just enough soldiers to justify future NATO training exercises and command positions for western officers looking to punch a ticket to get promoted.

From NATO’s perspective, Finland is just another sucker to be enlisted as a buyer of Western military gear. Finland’s role in NATO, if it comes to pass, is simple and stark–create a trip wire on Russia’s border for starting a nuclear world war. If you are comfortable with that I think you are a moron. But on the bright side, your status as a moron qualifies you to serve in NATO’s leadership.

I would think the main value of Finland is simply another piece of land bordering Russia where the Globalistas acting through NATO can cram as much spy gear and covert ops and bio weapons labs.

It's all so very odd. NATO and US military has never been weaker or more patently pathetic in actual, military punch (as demonstrated by the acute failure of a Ukrainian military, armed and trained for 8 years and having been actively in combat ops in Donbass since 2014 and funneled billions in supposedly advanced anti air anti tank weapons, failing miserably against a Russian force w one hand tied behind its back), yet the NATO charlatans are acting as if they are invincible. WTH?

Truss lost me entirely on this conflict when she bumbled right into Lavrov's trap, asserting that the UK would not recognize Russian sovereignty over the Rostov or Voronezh regions. Yikes.

and of course she’s a “Conservative,” no less, much as, say, Ozark’s Wendy Byrde…

Thanks for the link, I read the post, and followed a link to Isegoria and followed a link to The Upheaval substack post, https://theupheaval.substack.com/p/no-the-revolution-isnt-over.

It's an excellent tour round the features of the Great Awokening explaining how it came to be and what makes it so formidable. A bracing read for reactionaries in this fight. Highly recommend. Maybe Mark Wauck already linked to it earlier this year, and I just missed it.

Excellent! Thanks for pointing him out. Somehow I’ve never read him before. Here’s my mashup of what I take to be his “money quotes”:

“Americans of my generation have hardly known a moment's peace. And for what? . . . the nation's economy is shot, its infrastructure's a joke, its military can't fight, its police are hamstrung in the face of decriminalized crime, its institutions are all under assault by the demon spawn of the Frankfurt School, and its domestic tranquility has been torn asunder. . . . Now here we are, being driven toward war with Vladimir Putin's Russia by a relentless military-industrial propaganda campaign organized by a corrupt gerontocracy in command of our armed forces in support of a dubious cause, for absolutely no good reason of state.”
