Russia will not allow Syria to fall for one reason....well two actually. Latakia air base and Tartus naval base. Same reason they intervened in Crimea basically.

For those unfamiliar with the expansion of the Tartus base which began in 2017:

https://www.dw.com/en/new-russia-syria-accord-allows-up-to-11-warships-in-tartus-port-simultaneously/a-37212976

The importance of these bases cannot be overstated. Besides defending Syria and projecting naval and air power in the eastern Mediterranean (should the Bosporus Straits be closed), they are just over 300 kilometres from Tel Aviv and directly on the flight path between Israel and Russia. Draw your own conclusions about that last fun fact.

Here's some weirdness for you. Just yesterday Avia-pro <https://avia-pro.net/> ran a story claiming a coup was underway in Damascus with fighting between Republican Guards who were attempting the coup, and the regular army defending against it. Unnamed sources inside Syria was the only credit given.

I tried to verify the story using a half-dozen of the better known ME news outlets and nothing. Today I looked again and nothing, so I went to Avia-pro and the story has vanished without a trace!

Were they hacked? Did someone prank them? Are they victims of a hoax or are they perpetrators? I don't follow Avia-pro all that closely so I have no idea. I go there for aviation news, not politics.

Right, that story was out there--including that it was a Russian backed coup. Can you remember the Russians staged a coup in another country? Me neither. But Sullivan was out there saying the whole thing was a lesson not to rely on the Russians. Propaganda.

Found this on LJ's site:

"There is a sizeable amount of bizarre and erroneous information being spread on social media about what is transpiring in Syria. Earlier today, the Aquila Telegram channel claimed a military coup had been launched in Damascus against Assad. This was totally false. Instead, Assad held a calm meeting in Damascus with Iran’s Foreign Minister."

Sullivan commented on it? That just adds to the weirdness because apart from Avia-pro I couldn't find any news outlet reporting on it and Avia-pro isn't the kind of source you'd run with unless it was confirmed by more reliable sources which I couldn't find. Do you know of any other news source or agency that carried the story?

Turkey must have been offered a big carrot by the Anglo/Zionist’s to take on this adventure.

If I were Greek I’d be worried, Erdogan still has his eyes on pushing maritime boundaries.

The problem with Alexander Mercouris is he cannot shut his mouth

and listen

You've got limited time with a highly experienced and intelligent person Crooke

Mercouris is well just that, an annoyance

I could listen to Crooke for hours and days

Point: I would have loved to ask Crooke where does China play into Syria

eg: knowing China - if not needs - strongly desires Iran oil

For if China is backing Russia and Iran, therefore Syria and I believe they are

behind the scenes, intelligence both military satellite strategy

but knowhow computer chips missiles, then it is a no win for the US Israel

and Erdogan

I personally believe Russia and China and Iran are 'playing by the book'

that is they desire to do everything in accordance with UN rules and regulations

and that this is a binding force, and that they are all working under these

guidelines

If Iran stays from the UN rules book then it will stray from Russia and China

I stopped listening to Mercouris a while back for the same reason. Can't stand interviewers who think they're the main attraction. He also asks a lot of leading questions. We get enough of that on MSM, don't need it in the alt-world.

One thing that's interesting about this is the lack of reticence ***to publicly declare a desire to assassinate world leaders. That used to be a bit more of a taboo***

Michael Tracey @mtracey

Speaking of Assad, ***Trump said in September 2020 that he had wanted to assassinate Assad,*** but Defense Secretary James Mattis was against it

War with Iran? I’m confused. How exactly are the Anglo-Zionists going to gin up popular support for that misadventure? It’s not 1978 anymore. Non of today’s kids even know about the hostage situation, let alone where Iran might even be. Talk about an epic disaster in the making.

The Turks are playing a dumb game here. They’re acting like a 1980s Middle Eastern power in 2024. Ethnic tit-for-tat that will bog them down as other more mature countries move forward. Some of us thought Erdogan had outgrown this.

It’s worse since the war technology and tactics used by Iran and Russia has improved, and Turkey is a generation out of date. Turkey was trying to do a replay of the last Azerbaijan Armenia confrontation using drones with tank reinforcements, with decapitulations of Syrian leadership. The lack of air superiority will be huge, plus Russian / Iranian use of drones and missiles.
