I'm getting a strange sense of deja vu over Trump's attempts at negotiations with Iran. It reminds me of Trump and JDV's meeting with Zelensky where they told him in no uncertain terms that this was best deal he was ever going to get, and a negative response would close the doors forever on any victorious outcome. This time, thought, it is Trump who is the little sweaty guy in the dirty green t-shirt and combat pants. China and Russia are warning him diplomatically but bluntly that some kind of new nuke deal is going to get with Iran. If he nixes it, he either has to walk away from the whole affair and Iran wins, or he has to ratchet up a war that he probably won't win and will bring him into far closer conflict with Iran's big friends. Netanyahu will be baying for war, so now we're really going to see how much freedom of manoeuvre Trump really has.
There is no way Trump is considering military action against Iran. The Russians are in agreement, no nukes for Iran. So this is headed towards a nuclear non- proliferation agreement with Iran that the Russians will back.
I certainly hope so, Ned, and the rumours of talks seem to point to at least some kind of discussions in the offing. However, the unpredictables here are the Zionists - and Trump himself. For the crazies in Tel Aviv, a deal where Iran promises not to do something that it was never going to do anyway is a big loss. Trump? Well, he Trump's.
the process whereby the character of a poor urban area is changed by wealthier people moving in, improving housing, and attracting new businesses, typically displacing current inhabitants in the process.
It appears pretty obvious that Trump plan is Gentrification by his words and Genocide Ethnic Cleansing by any others
Don't know if you listened to Netanyahu recently state/claiming he did not ' lock in ' the Palestinians
But that certainly bolstered the ' Gentrification Plan ' now they will be moving to allow the Palestinians to leave = Bomb all hospitals, schools, public buildings, housing, destroy food and water sources and deny humanitariab aid
Then say your simply improving the character and attacting new business.
I hope Doctorow is right (it seems I say that every week) about Iran. It is very interesting how Doctorow's take on the Iran situation might play in to what happened at the White House in Trump's treatment of Netanyahu. Two takes on Benji's horrible, no good, very bad day, from Israel and Iran respectively:
Every time I am ready to throw up my hands and question Trump's judgment and his very humanity, he does something like this, that suggests there is a lot going on behind the scenes we do not know about (like maybe, as Mark suggests, with Russia?).
I listened to the Davis-Jermy interview and was calmed. Then, I listened to the Napolitano-Freeman interview and found it very distressing to listen to Trump imply a history of the Gaza strip that is detached from reality; Netanyahu seems to jump in to prevent disaster. Freeman notes that we are living in a time when nothing is true and everything is plausible. Sure, it's plausible that the Palestinians were given incredibly valuable Mediterranean waterfront property from the peace-loving Israelis in an effort to buy peace, but look: those Palestinians have done nothing with it! And they are not very peaceful, are they!
Since his inauguration, it seems like Trump is testing the boundaries of what ridiculous thing he can say next. Why? I don't think Trump is very good at the hasbara. It's almost like he's making fun of himself engaging in it.
I believe you are taking years of Iran issues and attempting to put it on Trump's doorstep. The crisis with Iran has been decades in the making with lot's of players that have played a role. If you were to say Trump has turned up the temperature I would be in accord. You are throwing a lot of stuff that's gone in many administrations. Take a step back and rethink your accusations. I am not defending Trump's action I am simply saying you are putting years of misplayed policy onto one individual. I can't agree with that, Doug.
I was only referring to the treaty. Five countries signed off on it, and he just disowned it. If we still had the treaty, no reason to threaten war now. I supported Trump to stop the Wars, Not Start Them

Forget Ukraine. Trump is abandoning that project.

IDK but my take based solely on a few photos from Netanyahu’s visit with Trump is it appears to me Netanyahu’s smarting some from a Trump spanking.
Or vice versa. Who knows?
He didn't look totally at ease.
Maybe Trump pulled the chair too far back.

Ditto on that d. I’m getting whiplash, not to mention the emotional and political roller coaster ride that we’ve been on from day one!
Yep. My predictions record on Trump's first few months is: right, right, wrong, right, wrong, wrong, wrong, partially correct, wrong, right, wrong.
Sounds like a confused back seat driver giving directions with his eyes closed. Is it me or the guy driving? 🥴

Keep forgetting about that Ukraine thing going on. A yogiism: The world moves so fast all of a sudden.
While we all argue about Iran and Tariffs, the Russians are inching ever closer to their goals.
Ah, Yogi, the master statesman, simple and confusing but always spot on. ;o)
Why no reinstate the Treaty that Trump broke?
Why should anyone have any faith, that he will honor any treaty?
Should’nt we wait and see how things play out? Then cast judgement?
We should do, Cardi, but that's not how we roll, is it? :)
Maybe, but Past is Prologue.
Except that Trump threatened to use nuclear weapons on Iran. Russia could response with nuclear weapons, they have 5,000+ of them. High Stakes !
Rebranded?
Yep. And oh so much better. It’ll be 10x better. You’ll see. (Spoken in Trumpy tone).
He needs to prove he can back up,
And acknowledge that he created the crisis.
He didn't create this crisis, Doug, but he is extending it.
He broke the treaty, first term.

When he threatens attack,

Yup, and the Chinese can come in and scoop up Taiwan! Stakes are higher now.
I'm sure they do, Cassander however; I am of the opinion the USA would step into help miring us in more war.
