America's biggest problem is that there's nobody in charge of the US Government. Sleepy Joe sure isn't. Everyone else is just another faction, fighting against the other factions.

That's the problem; each Ruling Family thinks they're in charge; the problem is that there's more than one Ruling Family, and each Ruling Family spends most of their energy fighting the other Ruling Families.

Impressive speech by Putin - and one that even 20 years ago would have hardly raised a ripple. It's been a steep learning curve for many of us here. Those same 20 years ago, we believed we lived in democracies that stood in theory, if not in practice, for the highest human values. Fast forward to today and we find that it is our countries that are the enemy of mankind and that a nation we former Cold War warriors spent our youths opposing is now the torch bearer for the only values that matter.

Having lived through WWII my experience is that it takes a tremendous effort to keep the public enthusiastic about a war effort, and Viet Nam demonstrated what happens when the public loses interest. Our government has effectively destroyed any support for any effort economic or military, and would be hard put to generate unified support for anything. Even worse, our best military men are not 'woke' enough and have been dismissed or encouraged to do so. Where our government is superb is in creating realities that don't exist, so I think they will be content with the type of war we have now, where we win in the media.

A little bit contrarian (but only a little; MeaninginHistory enjoys a diverse set of inputs, cultural pun intended): I don't worry so much about 'the people waking up and noticing'. I trust they will/have; the 'indifference' to action in view of events may in fact represent reasonable choices. An exhaustion, meh+yuck sentiment with respect to things financial/political/judicial isn't a lousy assessment. Today's youth, to me, seem pretty savvy. I view our era as enjoying & equipped with blessings that separate us from prior eras [health, technology, energy, machinary, capitalism] (I do believe people remain burdened by choice - be good or be a problem). Faith in God counsels (as many wonderful commentators and our esteemed blog owner have demonstrated repeatedly) we don't get too wrapped up in the political noise versus care for each other. It is why war and injustice still carry the sparks that will show the 'waking up' many are looking for. In our era, I just don't know what form it will take, but I trust in our Lord nonetheless.

A great article to follow from Putin’s bemoaning of Western decadence: a Hungarian approach to salvation?! Why not!

an excerpt :

Additionally, Orbán transcends the typical conservative shrinking in the face of baseless slurs thrown his way by the Left. When they hurl insults like “Putin pawn” or “Putin shill” in response to his questioning the need for World War III, rather than buckling and apologizing, he stands tall. He ignores the profit-fueled jingoism pushed by the military-industrial complex because his supposedly “illiberal” mandate has removed dependency on the demands of a million special interests, agenda-driven NGOs, incessant media chatterers and other functionaries. These parties exist to drive the world toward conflict and despair; he exists to serve the Hungarian people

I think we have to be fair here and admit that many people we considered as our cultural enemies have turned out to be people who are still honest enough to put the truth over political loyalties. I never thought I'd praise folks like Russell Brand, Jeff Sachs and Naomi Wolf, but there we are.

It’s a bundle of contradictions when you look at the 60’s generation protesters of VNam war, all born in the late 40’s, some early 50’s and their music…The Woodstock gen is now in their late 70’s, and not a march or a placard in sight…this generation profited for 30+ years (remember the high-flying 80’s, partying like it’s 19– —), rolling w the punches but generally able to secure a good living for themselves and able to provide nest eggs for their children. Re:Neo-Cons - born in the late 60’s early 70’s, so Sull and Nul’s age - and boy, do we see the cultural and moral rot! Grew up without a moral compass, (mom in the workplace), game the system, get what you can, means justify the ends…anyway, c’est compliqué!

Agreed. The generational brackets don't always fit. A "baby boomer" could be a Haight Asbury hippy dippy type or a Vietnam tunnel rat. I can't imagine those two having much in common. Agreed too about the Woodstock gen's complete lack of fight back today. The Covid and Russiagate stuff was exactly what they were supposed to be against - yet not a whisper of dissent. And Old Kneel Young even sided with them.

Time may reveal if they're 'weathervanes' watchin' which way the wind next blows. Frankly, I don't mind honest mistakes in reporting, etc., if said reporter is honest enough to see truth when it might finally be revealed. I don't know these folks, except from a filtered-by-media distance and, I suspect, they're trying to make a living. In today's 'cancel culture' world truth is an early victim. Since I'm in no way ever gonna make any money with my opinions, I'm grateful I get to share some here. Plus, it's safe because cancelling me just might improve my situation! - :^) - (WRH)

The media is a necessary captive of the enemy of US Constitutional governance.

In Don Surber's Substack note today ( https://donsurber.substack.com/p/lincoln-freed-the-slaves?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email ) he speaks about Lincoln, slavery and made this point:

**Why do you think Biden made Juneteenth a federal holiday? This promotes the self-liberation lie that allows for a perpetual victimhood, which liberals will exploit to promote the Maoism that will — if not stopped — enslave us all. **

I found Don's 'stack from within Mark's postings somewhere and (slow me) received this post as my first from him this morning. He references a couple MSM articles that demonstrate this assault on our freedom is not due to ignorance but, to me at least, an agenda of which MSM is playing a central role in. Collectively, it's not capable or wise enough to operate it, but they are willing participants in the socialist/Marxist fraud being perpetrated on this Country.

I don't mean to distract with this slight variation of theme, but the other night the "Gutfield!" show did a segment on a Disney cartoon depicting how slaves set themselves free and it is white supremacy (or whatever is the present denigration of whites today is) to say otherwise. This article, while I am confident not anything but coincidental, lists factual history that I am confident, my grandsons never heard in their history classes. (Sorry Mark, I don't mean to distract from your postings at all!) I'll just suggest, S'21, if you don't subscribe to Don Surber, at least take a look at this posting of his. One of my old & made new again mantras is that Truth can be an inconvenient thing... (WRH)

I was thinking that as I drove to work today, Rascal. All the incredible revelations about the Covid jabs, the lies about Ukraine and dire prospect of nuclear war, etc. And everyone I see is going about their business as normal. Maybe they are right, dammit! The truth is pretty horrible right now, so why not eat, drink and be merry.

Was referring to the Lord's second coming, Steghorn, which He said the world would again be unprepared. And the next time the earth is destroyed, in about a thousand years, will be a fiery end, and then a new creation, a new heaven and a new earth (as described in Revelation). And no more sin!

G'evening Chuck, very good point. Along that line, I was thinking of Rascals point having some minor caveats - this Fallen world has Redemption readily available. For many (sadly too many) it's that Repentance part that gets in their way.

What I do see that is heart breaking is that so very many, if I may say, innocents - many of Faith - young and old, are suffering and dying. I do wish the best for you sir! (WRH)

Thank you, Wayne. Jesus preached the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. Salvation and redemption are only a portion of that. There are only two Kingdoms at war, played out in large part through our world. Once we leave the kingdom of darkness to enter the Kingdom of Light, we become responsible to separate the two in our lives, leaving the old kingdom behind. This is the process of becoming holy, separated unto God. We need to always distinguish between the two, and not let the old kingdom's yeast infect our dough. God bless you!

Thank you Chuck. Solid truth well said. These world-wide events, exposed and shared in this forum (Mark's faithfulness to Truth and his personal faith is remarkable and appreciated) really need be kept in mind, keeping the perspective as you lay out very well. This is a battle of Good and Evil with variations from new technology to various pretenses - the enemy loves the distraction and celebrates at the destruction. It really is an old battle with 'new' faces of evil. My best to you! (WRH)

Chuck's avatar

Very true, Wayne. The enemy loves to blur the line between good and evil, and even between love and sin - oh, they love each other, a God of love wouldn't condemn them for that. Whoever falls for that, falls for anything. We must separate the yeast from the dough. "Be holy," the Lord tells us, "for I am holy." God bless!
