Reminder that Roe v. Wade is probably about to be overturned precisely because Republican voters didn't listen to weaklings like David French and put Donald Trump into office

There are few days I agree with a RGB but this is one of them. Historically speaking, blowback is often times unaccounted for in policy decisions.

At this point though no matter what they do neither said can drop this subject. It's too valuable to both sides.

RBG was correct. Rather than resolving the issue, the SC actually caused much of the fight over abortion for the past 50 years. Nothing the SC decides today on taking a position w.r.t. abortion rights would please anybody anywhere. They will tick off a large part of the country.

I think Kavanaugh probably is on the path to where the SC goes--put the issue back in the hands of the states and legislature to deal with politically, rather than relying on the courts to determine abortion rights/prohibitions. Let the SC get back to neutral and not wade into this issue.

The Left secretly wants Roe overturned as that will make abortion the defining issue of 2022 and inflation, covid, dementia, etc will fade away as talking points.

Kavanaugh's comments on the potential of overturning Roe v Wade and returning the court to a 'neutral' position where the states once again decide the question seemed to me a good line of attack. We know the U.S. House and Senate will not act if Roe v Wade is overturned; as with most divisive national issues, both sides would rather keep the battle raging to raise campaign contributions while maligning the opposition.
