Self explanatory. I’m pasting in what appeared at FR. You can follow the link to the original. BTW, RFK is not saying he was astonished when he found out who “begged” Trump. He’s saying he’s astonished that Trump gave in.

Pompeo later went on to become Trump’s secretary of state.
According to Kennedy, this cover-up was ostensibly done to hide the agency’s involvement in the JFK murder plot.

RFK Jr: “More than 60 years after my uncle’s death … none of the people who were implicated in that crime are alive now. ... it clearly is to protect the [CIA]. And that’s wrong.”

Carlson remarked: “It’s just interesting … that a bipartisan list of presidents these six decades have kept those files classified.”
RFK Jr: “I was astonished that Trump didn’t declassify them because he promised to during the [2016] campaign.”
Carlson interjected: “That was Mike Pompeo who did that.”
Kennedy: “Yeah. I talked to President Trump for the first time about that this week. He said that Mike Pompeo begged him to. … He said that Mike Pompeo called him and said, ‘This would be a catastrophe to release these. You need to not do it.'”
Carlson: “I want to say again that I think that Mike Pompeo is a criminal. So that’s my view. He’s threatened to sue me for saying that. But I hope he will, because it’s true.”

I can’t think of anything that would be more healing for the American Republic than to learn the whole truth about the Kennedy assassination and about the CIA.
Look at it this way: there are two sides to the coin. If there was no cover up, why cover up? If there was no cover up and everyone who could have involved is dead anyway, why not release the files? Why would Pompeo "beg" to keep them sealed? Or did Trump lie to RFK? Or did RFK just make this story up?
My best guess--which is what it is--is that there are records pertaining to the activities and contacts of persons that, while not being a smoking gun, would point in a certain direction. Those activities (travel, maybe) and contacts would have been memorialized in the ordinary course of business--perhaps to get reimbursement for expenses that were involved--but now point in a particular direction. Presence in Dallas, etc.
As matters stand, there seems to be ample evidence that the investigation jiggered the physical evidence. So I wouldn't expect that anything that was released would involve that aspect. But we'll only know if ...
If Trump places the warmonger Pompeo in his administration as anything other than White House dog catcher we will know that it’s going to be a long four years filled with belligerent foreign policy and no IC reforms.
