This morning I picked up Tucker Carlson’s latest over at CTH. Sundance calls the lengthy monologue The Big Picture in 19 Minutes, and you can watch it all there. What I’ve done is transcribe what I thought were the most compelling portions—although it’s all good.
Consider:
[12:00] So take three steps back--what's going on here?
This administration has targeted a very specific portion of the population. It has targeted them for ideological and political reasons: Blue collar men. They're our new Kulak class.
The idea is, they supported the wrong party, they have retrograde attitudes, they engage in WrongThink--and we're gonna crush them. And so systematically they have. The mandates are only one way in which the Biden administration has decided to hurt this specific group of Americans.
The problem is--and this may not be evident to the geniuses who work in the Biden administration--you can't run a country without these people. They're the ones who know how to do things. Not just report to the HR department, but fix things. Build things. Keep the power grid going. Fly your airplanes. Etc., etc., etc. And it is exactly this group that is being ground to dust beneath the heel of the ideologues in the Biden administration.
So what does this mean for you? Well, it's gonna have massive ramifications for your life? [13:00] ...
...
[15:20] These people [the Zhou regime] have no tactile sense of what the country is like. ... Instead of answering any of these questions [on how to run a country], they're lecturing us on how we should be delighted that we have a new four star TransAdmiral--that's the prize they're bringing to us. You voted for us! Here's your TransAdmiral--be happy!
Among other things, these are totally unserious people. They are purely ideological. They do not care if the actual country, the physical country, comes apart at the seams--as long as the population dutifully repeats the correct slogans. Once you understand that, you understand why every day we get some frivolous new announcement about some social justice goal that, in the end, will not improve the life of a single American citizen.
Here's today's example. The State Department has just announced that it will issue the first passport ever with an "X" gender marker. HUH?
First of all, who cares?
Second, why is the US Government trying to pretend that gender isn't real? It's the realest thing in human society! It's the basis of civilization! But, whatever! They lectured us today: This is for those who don't identify as male or female.
So you won't be able to get on a plane because no one's working at the airlines anymore, but at least you won't get misgendered. OK.
Here's another example.
There's an ongoing House Intel Committee hearing with the heads of the CIA, NSA, and DNI. Not on how the intel agencies have been weaponized against American citizens--no, that would be too germane! That might actually do something for you if they stopped reading your texts, or let you post what you wanted on Facebook. No, this hearing was about DEI. That's not a new intel agency--it's a new cult. It's called, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. [17:15]
Tucker asserts that the ruling class has no “tactile sense of what [America] is like.” The scary thought, though, is—what if they do have a sense of what America is like? I touched on that possibility recently while writing about our government run schools. I noted that, over and over, the parents who are upset about what’s going on in the schools revealed that for years they hadn’t had a clue what the government was doing with their kids. Until the pandemic shut down the country these parents were too busy with other things. Even now, one wonders whether these concerned parents are in the minority.
Consider—High School's Halftime Gets Souped-up With Something Far More Fabulous:
A Vermont high school homecoming football game turned into a “drag ball” runway at halftime, with…a big crowd in rainbow colors to cheer them on.
I know what you’re thinking. Vermont—Bernie Bros territory. That’s not what American is really like.
But how about this—
Small-Town Wisconsin Schools Won’t Tell Parents If Their Children Identify As Transgender
Oshkosh is not a major urban area, where people expect to find far-left policies like this. It is a modest-sized Wisconsin town of 67,000 people.
Would you want to speculate on what else is going on in Oshkosh schools?
Oshkosh is in Winnebago County, by the way. It’s more or less a swing county, but Trump Winnebago County handily in both 2016 and 2020. But this is what the schools are like there. The article quotes “one parent” who found this policy to be “outrageous.”
And then there’s this via TGP:
An investigation has been launched by an Eastern Kentucky school district after photos surfaced online showing male students in lingerie giving lap dances to staff during a homecoming event.
One of the Hazard High School staff members who was photographed getting a lapdance by a scantily-clad male student was the principal, Donald “Happy” Mobelini — who is also the mayor of the Perry County city.
On Tuesday, the school held a “Man Pageant” and “Costume Day,” according to their Facebook page.
Photos of male students giving staff lap dances during the pageant were posted on Facebook by the school’s athletics department, but were removed as it began to go viral.
There were also female students in Hooters outfits.
Perry County, KY, turned Deep Red in 2004 and hasn’t looked back. Here are the GOP vote percentages this century:
2020: 76.5%
2016: 77.2%
2012: 78.5%
2008: 65.2%
2004: 53.1%
America is going through a major social, political, and economic crisis and this is what a “conservative” part of the country is up to in their government run schools? Apparently the parents in Deep Red Perry County aren’t as upset with their school as parents in Deep Blue Loudoun County, VA.
These examples can be multiplied from across America. It’s not just Blue America. Every day brings multiple stories to drive the point home.
Go figure, but surely this tells us something about the social decline of America since religion was ousted from public life—a process with deep roots in American history. We need desperately to win some elections, but winning a few elections isn’t going to change what’s wrong with America. Only a real spiritual revival will do that. But how many “conservatives” actually want religion playing an active role in public life? Beyond that, how many even of the “concerned” parents can really articulate why these things that are going on with the kids are evil? Do most Americans even understand evil? The Boomers ratified America’s loss of religion and it’s been downhill ever since.
There’s one class that has retained it’s focus, and perhaps even redoubled it’s focus—their personal enrichment. That would be the ruling class, The Mandarin Class (h/t Chris). That, of course, is a term derived from Chinese society and history, but which the author applies American society:
Mandarins were “bureaucrat-scholars”, and formal academic achievement was at the heart of their status.
For the mandarins who wrote and adjudicated China’s laws, this was literally the equivalent of going to law school, becoming a law professor or a prosecuting attorney, and ultimately being appointed to the judicial bench.
For the mandarins who collected and spent China’s taxes, this was literally the equivalent of going to grad school for a PhD, becoming an economics professor or a staff economist, and ultimately being appointed to a leadership position at the Federal Reserve.
Once admitted to this professional bureaucracy, you were in for life, and essentially all legal and economic policy decisions flowed through you and your fellow mandarins. Ultimately, as you might expect, these effective rulers of China began to see themselves as a privileged class, and sought to institutionalize their control over everyday legal and economic affairs in a way that could make this a hereditary position, so that they could pass down their power to their children. The easiest way to do this was through the accumulation of wealth, as power is most fungible and inheritable in the form of money, and so these bureaucrat-scholars became very rich and very adept at staying rich. Policy became as much an instrument for becoming rich and staying rich as it was an instrument for public service and advancement.
Sound familiar?
Why, yes, that does sound familiar. Those would be the people Tucker was talking about who have seen the Covid Regime as their golden opportunity to grind down all non-ruling class opposition for good and all. For their good and all. The author offers examples of the institutionalized corruption among Federal Reserve officials and judges—rigging things for their own benefit. How could this be going on in America? At a wild guess, I’d say that maybe it’s because our elected representatives are largely part of that system, too.
However, not to conclude on a total downer, here are several articles to add to the list of largely unionized workers—although not exclusively by any means—who are pushing back against the mandates. That spirit may yet contribute to a turnaround of America, may lead to a rethinking of who we are are human beings:
Head of NYC Firefighters Union Advises Unvaccinated Members to Ignore Bill de Blasio’s Mandate
The Agence France-Presse reports that about 40 percent of the FDNY, approximately 6,800 firefighters, have still not yet taken a vaccine.
That’s right. In America we have to get our news from Agence France-Presse.
Biden’s COVID Nightmare – One-Third of US Military Are Still Not Fully Vaccinated
That’s from the UK Daily Mail:
Only 68 per cent of the US is military is fully vaccinated against the coronavirus with less then five weeks to go before the mandate deadline passes.
About 468,000 – or 32 percent – of the military’s 1.46 million total employees weren’t fully inoculated Wednesday ahead of the November 28 target date for active-duty Navy and Marines.
About 82 percent of the total force has received at least one jab, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said, meaning about 263,200 members have yet to receive a single dose of an FDA-approved vacc2ine,
The figures are more promising among the active-duty force, where 97 per cent have received at least one shot and 87 per cent are fully vaccinated.
Guess what? The military doesn’t run on just active duty personnel. Not that I trust government stats anymore.
Raytheon CEO warns company could lose ‘several thousand’ employees over vaccine mandate
Raytheon has 125,000 employees, but the CEO makes no bones about it: this is tough. But, well, he’s preparing for it—so it’ll be tough for the employees, not so much for him. Life is more than your employees and, hey, he’s provided for.
The American spirit, or so it seems: I’ve got mine.
We are all familiar with the expression "You can't fight City Hall". It is equally true, if not often recognized, that City Hall cannot fight us. They can command, they can even to a certain extent enforce, but they ultimately, if they are intelligent, rely on persuasion and mutual respect. Ignore this, and they are likely to provoke passive resistance in the law-abiding majority, or, as Bartleby the Scrivener put it; "I prefer not to." The massive resistance now going on in New York City to the mandates, even putting ones employment on the line, underlines this. Hordes of essential workers simply will not comply. This is the future of America. Think of this as we enter 'the winter of our discontent', with inflation, shortages and a likely crash of the markets and the main street economy. The Washington establishment may indeed have found a way to perpetuate their power. For those outside the beltway, they and the media will become increasingly irrelevant.
