“…he needs to have available to him the most accurate and up-to-the-minute information on what is going on everywhere in the world, and particularly of the trends and developments in all the danger spots in the contest between East and West. This is an immense task and requires a special kind of an intelligence facility.” - President Harry Truman

“Analysts at the bottom, even if they tried to tell the truth…they would not be able to get the ear of…well, maybe their director [Bill Burns]…” - Ray McGovern, former CIA analyst

Truman’s Admirable intention - “untainted intelligence” (and yes, perhaps naive), vs reality (the creation of the DS, more death and destruction, per Larry Johnson.

Anyone interested in the role and impact of Allen Dulles in subverting the CIA from its supposedly intended role as a benign intelligence gathering office to a malign and unaccountable arm of the US Government executing a dark foreign policy must read David Talbot's 2016 book, The Devil's Chessboard.

I would think Truman knew exactly what Dulles was up to during and after his Presidency...as Eisenhower did. Politicians, both of them, they danced with the Devil and used Dulles for their own ends, as Dulles used them. But they knew he was the Devil and neither stopped him. And both had extreme regrets which they ultimately voiced, albeit ineffectively, as in Truman's Wapo OpEd and Eisenhower's January 1961 Farewell Address where he warned of the military industrial complex.

And it may well be that John F Kennedy paid for his opposition to what the CIA became with his life.

It seems to me all of a piece with the double-edged sword that America has clearly become in our time. We have sanctimonious politicians ranging from Biden to Romney to Schiff to Lindsey Graham (and many more) imploring us to believe in the United States' as a City on a Hill and as a beacon of Freedom and Democracy while they implicitly (and duplicitously) support the exact opposite. George Orwell was amazingly prescient!

I believe Trump and many of his supporters understand this but the Devil is powerful and deeply entrenched. None of Truman or Eisenhower or JFK could displace him and his power has only grown (exponentially) since then. And what power do we have? The American ballot box?

We are really in a terrible, terrible situation.

My wife is currently reading--to herself and summaries to me--two books: The Brothers and Ike's Spies (Stephen Ambrose). But there's more than just the Dulles brothers to our Deep State. And it is terrible.

I've just ordered Ike's Spies...

Maybe my memory is playing tricks on me but I'm fairly sure there's an episode of _Yes Minister_ where Minister Jim Hacker makes a similar request:

<<I wanted and needed the information in its "natural raw" state and in as comprehensive a volume as it was practical for me to make full use of it.>>

After a few evenings of multiple dispatch boxes (essentially a briefcase full of documents) the Minister realises the folly of his request, and if Truman meant what he said I would imagine he suddenly found more paperwork than he could possibly ever read, particularly with a diary suddenly full of irrelevant meetings. Naive? Definitely!

An article by Laurent Guyénot recently posted on unz.com argues that the CIA was involved, but not the major actor. Worth a read...

Although *not* in fact recently posted, it is a very interesting article.

Thanks. While I believe the intel agency had to be complicit, perhaps they did not set it up. Allowing it to happen and then covering the tracks though is enough to warrant a guilty verdict.

When one considers how the USA has setup, outsourced and funded all forms of surveillance and security technology to Israel which has led to the technology expertise and profits for their industry one can easily imagine Mossad activities such as assassinations as a fully American project. What Israel gets for their efforts are billions of dollars of aid and free rein around the world. I truly believe the Mossad colluded with the CIA to implement the 9/11 attack to blame Islamic terrorists to justify actions in countries they wished to exploit or destroy for their resources and assets. The USA after two years of open borders is now subject to increased chaos and terror within our country. Given the Soros and Zionist desire to take down the USA as we know it to accomplish their WEF goals is now an unsurprising prospect. we know who are enemies are and generally not the ones our country says it is.

Perception management, true, Truman was a creature of the cabal through and through.

Human nature, being what it is, leads to regret and self preservation. Sure, Truman may have regretted the creation of the agency and what it had become, but he was also facing his own mortality at the time of the op-ed and worried about his own legacy at that point. A politician creating a narrative. “Not my fault”

A truth commission under our existing political class would never get at the truth. Fear is used to keep the truth suppressed and any member of such a commission would be

in an awful position and the pressure to comply to deep state diktats would be enormous. Just sayin’

yes letting them know we are on to them is important. the more they know we know the more they reveal who they are and how they attempt to deceive is no longer working. Will they sweat? Probably not, psychopaths are not known for harboring any guilt or remorse, but it could induce mistakes which may hurt them more than us.
