I agree with Chuck and Helmsley. They are trying to corrupt our language, change the meanings of words, and generally beat us over the head every time we hit one of their trip wires. AK's most famous quote was "The map is not the territory." In other words language is symbolic. But at the same time we should not take it overly seriously - it always needs to be received in context and in evaluation of the mental and physiological state of its source before it is assigned meaning and value.
