Degenerate.

As kids, we used to laugh at my Depression Era, Brooklyn Catholic dad's go-to descriptor for any and all manifestations of the societal excesses of the '60s and '70s. We sometimes used to tease each other as "degenerates" whenever a sibling pissed another off. In retrospect, he was on to something.

Crooke's quote here about how the "system" works--"Momentarily, it stands naked in its degeneracy"--really sums it up nicely. I took me far longer than I care to admit to own up to the reality that each latest instance of "societal breakdown" was not happening randomly, but as part of an organized, affirmative effort at literal degeneracy--the purposeful stripping away of traditions, history, community and other foundations of human progress in order to leave a vacuum of meaning that only the degenerates can fill.

Obviously, this is classic 20th Century political-Marxist playbook, and, as such, no great epiphany for me or anyone here. It's just that, one of the starkest cinematic depictions of this philosophy and practice, the reeducation camp scene in "The Killing Fields," with its Year Zero, removal of familial bonds, "Angkar (the Party) will provide," etc., just seemed so remote a place and eventuality at the time. "Momentarily," you get a glimpse, I guess.

Thank you Mr Wauck for the work you do to find, seive, process this far flung material and channel it into a rational and soul-grounding narrative. As to this post, Bravo! quite good, as the content advances our awareness and remains consistent to your general predictions of several quarters ago. Hard to be that right for that long, in any business

Reading Mark on Crooke is a gourmet feast for the the mind searching for meaning in the midst of madness, even though the truth and great import of the arguments lay heavily on us. If Mark were Michelin-rated, he’d have 4 stars!

You want to feel good? First, the bad news. The people running things can't do anything right. Now, the good news. The people running things can't do anything right. I shudder to think where we would be if they had fooled us into thinking they were competent, moral and working in our best interests.

It seems like some kind of separation is inevitable.

There is such little common ground and so many reasons to live apart.

I'm not saying I know how it will be accomplished but I don't know how it can be avoided.

Every one of us had an ancestor (or ancestors) who lived someplace else and at great inconvenience concluded, "No, I'm not staying in this place. I don't like it. I will go where I can be 'free'".

I don't know where to go but I am pretty sure that the status quo won't hold.

There are no excuses for not holding elected officials accountable for their misdeeds, people get attached to 'their' guy or gal to the detriment of everyone. It isn't just in Idaho:

I leave the ballot blank when there are no good candidates, FWIW.

Very often, the [useless Republican] incumbent has no opponent, or a token that has no chance.

Mark, I am skeptical that anything went on in the Wuhan lab that Xi Jin Ping didn’t allow. This is after all a government run facility. Xi has been ruthless in removing military and government figures that go against his wishes.

Whether or not that's the case, it doesn't change the fact of deep US involvement. Given that the work was funded by the US, one presumes that the direction of the research was also run by the US. Thus the presence of Daszak and others. Also, the primary Chinese researcher worked for years in Canada and the US (with Ralph Baric) learning how to do some of this. The US is culpable, not a pure victim. There's no way to evade that.

@Mark

"Whether or not that's the case, it doesn't change the fact of deep US involvement."

Agreed.

Next question: Why was the US so deeply involved in gain-of-function research? Was it an innocent exercise to assist in purely scientific research relating to the nature of (and possible vaccines for) coronaviruses? Was the Pentagon involved and, if so, why? Were we researching bioweaponry? For what purpose? And what of the research being conducted in Ukraine?

old story ... mutually re-inforcing opportunists, all. for the researchers and Pharma, playing with fire (GOF on viruses - insanity) that they felt would bring themselves credentialed "firsts", awards, and control of intellectual property; for the Western & Chinese (gosh, I'd be surprised if not by any capable nation-state) military and politicians, fully aware this work was going to be done by someone [it is depressingly not too hard to do ...], get in front of some protective learning (they are not stupid in every direction all at once - they know how dangerous messing with viral evolution may be). So, simply follow the money: will be interesting to see who owns and collects royalties off of what patents. It is sobering that the sunlight that adherence to the Constitution would provide through public awareness of who asks for funds and how, who, and why authorized to receive funds would force a rational adult conversation on this craziness. Our Founders were pretty smart, and this secret stuff is too dangerous - it has to go

Mark, I entirely agree. The US medical and part of the political establishment did this bio weapon research on purpose. Our elites are deeply corrupt.

I have seen some commenters (not you) talk about Xi as being an innocent victim, and that bothers me.

There's actually a lot of good news, Rascal. It's just that what ends up in the newspapers (and in blogs) is nearly always the bad stuff. I should know: my dad was a cynical old newspaper man who thrived on all the gloomy stuff. I'd count good news as the fact that the DS is losing a lot of battles right now and is not getting everything its own way. Also, yes, the sheepish majority will never wake up. But so what? If there's a defiant 30, 20 even 10% of folks, then there is always hope. Oh, and let's save the best till last: HRC will NEVER be Prez!

Sorry to hear it, RNO - I like you as a happy warrior! Given that truth is stranger than fiction, that we are crazily adaptable, and the Lord loves us, I'm thinking I'll be pleasantly surprised by events. Sending you good wishes

Yes, I can tell RNo, and in normal times (!) I’d recommend a trip to Paris to chase the blues away! However, the current rotting heaps and piles of stinking detritus covering sidewalks and curbsides would walks to parks and museums most unpleasant. But Rousseau could never have imagined the type of moral decay and depravity that was just reported: a transgender performer “Icy Diamond” was invited by Mayor Anne Hildago (a/k/a Caligula?) on Proud Night to City Hall, to film doings in the bathrooms and generally party on til 4 am…Sodom and Gomorrah sur Seine. So enjoy lovely Idaho!!

Like most lefties, Rousseau wasn't a very nice person. He loved The People, but didn't like people. He had 5 illegitimate kids and threw them all in an orphanage. Nothing has changed.
