It’s too early to say for sure, but an important aspect of my early surmise—that there was target shooting going on at the ranch where the Baldwin movie was being filmed—is being reported to be correct: Gun that killed Halyna Hutchins used by crew off-set for fun: report
Mr Wauck - your point about getting the wadcutters mixed up with the blank ammo is salient; there are far too many ignoramuses about - especially in the movie biz - to know the difference. I know firearms & I know the industry as an active SAG member. There’s absolutely no reason whatsoever to have live ball ammo on set. There is A TON of nepotism in the industry & that armorer probably got the job due to her Dad having “connections”, the fact that she is 24yrs old & new to it all has led to deadly consequences.
There have been number of inquiries on the specific liability of actor Alec Baldwin and whether he could be charged criminally. The answer in one word is “yes.”
Baldwin had little reason as an actor to suspect anything was wrong with the prop. The problem is that Baldwin was not simply an actor. He was also one of the producers on a site that had reportedly experienced prior discharges and complaints about worker safety.
The most likely liability for Baldwin would stem from civil liability in the form of a wrongful death action.
I read today that the tragedy occurred because the director wanted to reshoot one of Baldwin's scenes. Baldwin reportedly disagreed and retorted, in his usually smart-Alecky way, "Maybe I should just shoot the two of you!", pointed the gun at them and fired.
I'm disappointed in myself that I can't muster up any sympathy for Baldwin. I've really tried, but I can't. He's a miserable narcissistic cur who treats others who he perceives as less powerful than he is like dirt, even his own child.
Just coincidence that Halyna Hutchins was the wife of a Latham & Watkins lawyer. The firm that represents the Clintons and Michael Sussman.

Which points a finger at--among others--the producer.
Producer was Alec Baldwin? Couldn’t happen to a nicer Liberal fraud...
