OT: McCarthy announces impeachment inquiry:

I'm in full support. I acknowledge that a successful impeachment and conviction will be problematic, and I acknowledge the potential political pitfalls, but I believe the American people deserve to know the whole story and then, to the extent politically achievable, there has to be accountability.

Uniparty Sen John Cornyn (R-Texas) says why bother?

"It really comes to how do you prioritize your time? I don’t know of anybody who believes Chuck Schumer will take it up and actually have a trial and convict a sitting president."

If the House impeaches Biden, how can Schumer (and the Uniparty) avoid "taking it up"?

Bullies don’t usually get invited, especially bearing sanctimonious contraptions like woke. Or QWERTYUGH. Normal Americans - anytime. Malignant narcissists - never.

Blinken has to be the worst foreign diplomat in the US right up there with his boss.

In a country with the worst diplomats on the planet this is no surprise.

I hope that you are right. Putin has been sent up in the air many times a la Charlie Brown trying to kick the football that Lucy is holding.

The Spring 2022 negotiations and subsequent troop withdrawal being just one example. Minsk II being another.

"Putin has been sent up in the air many times..."

Right. And he knows it. He has been trying...in good faith, I believe...to resolve the security structure of Europe for nearly 20 years. And he has been repeatedly "sent up". I think he finally said "No more" in February 2022 and he plainly won't let it happen again. There will be no 'frozen conflict'. There will be no cease fire. I believe Russia will stay in this fight until its stated goals are conclusively met. In the meantime, this will mean more pain for Ukraine and increasingly more demanding conditions from Russia. But I will be astonished if Putin falls for any more of the West's BS. He knows he is holding the winning hand and no amount of Blinken's bluffing will scare him into folding. He knows we can't be trusted, and he won't trust us. Take it to the bank.

Could we somehow adopt Alastair Crooke? He really is a voice of reason in an increasingly insane world.

I concur. I found Mr. Crooke sometime back and found him to quite erudite in his weekly essays and darn smart too.

De dollarization is a huge focus of the global South due to how the us has weoponized it.

And the us is doubling down, threatening the seized Russian assets with lawfare.

Yes. It has been said before, but its worth saying again. In the 'real world', US 'sanctions' and asset seizures are an 'in your face' wake up call none of the BRICs, and OPEC, and SCO, and African nations can ignore. Who in their right mind would deposit their 'savings' in US dollar denominated accounts which the United States Government can 'seize' any day they want if you say or do something *they* don't like. Rhetorical question.

Exactly.

My own suspicion is that this pivot to the Global South is only a tactic to try to pry these countries away from BRICS--it does not indicate a willingness to live and let live with Russia and China.

Yep create chaos and uncertainty and see whom comes back to daddy.

It's another chapter in the classic neocon playbook: divide and conquer, undermine through intrigue. All the way believing that you have been so brilliantly cunning and subtle that none of the victims will notice. The Global South and the East have not only had it with our military adventurism and vulture capitalism, but also with our whole debauched societal "values".

And right on Oregon/Nevada border. What ever will the climateologists or Interior dept have to say about this? How about that big land purchase by Reid, Jobs wife et al next to Travis AFB? A utopia community coming to a state near you.

And if true, will Biden (aka Team Obama) allow it to be mined? After all, that would do the very last thing that Obama et al want: help America.

Shiny object, once again. That Lith mine has been know of for months if not years. Mining it 'environmentally friendly' (i.e. @ high cost) is one thing, even as lith has risen in price exponentially. The real "Don't Look Here" is in a couple other absolutes: Cobalt acquisition {and other required parts} for processing and manufacture of those human-kind saving batteries... Very much like Rare Earth Metals I'll suggest. Colorado has huge REM deposits. What is mined is (if anyone is surprised, I'd be surprised) shipped to China for refining/processing/RE Magnet Mfg, etc. *'because the USA is being SOOOO earth friendly!* Let China make the mess, we get to virtue signal our nice, pristine country. While useless consumption is causing a net worsening of the vaunted Environmental Emergency. Gheesh. Oh, but, a huge Lithium Deposit! Mankind is saved again! (/shiny object sarcasm "off"). Blessing S'21 and all Mark's MIH readers! (WrH)

I thought maybe that's why they were letting everyone in over the border--to get them mining with their bare hands with citizenship as the reward.
