I believe this incident adds to the loathing the majority of voters who supported Trump entertain toward Biden. Right now, this majority is all that counts.
I'm in the resent category. I haven't purged the Parade of Schmoes who flew there for a bank withdrawal and photo op, especially the esteemed Rhonda "Randi" Weingarten.
I think that someone should name those responsible in the US/EU/UK governments for promoting the BS of primary Russian aggression and put it on record that they - The Named - will face legal accountability, with ultimate retribution not ruled out. OK, that’s smoking something. But what else is there for them - a future of comfortable sinecures and drift off happily into the sunset?
But wait - maybe turn state’s evidence and name the grey men, banksters all? Aha. Ripe pickings there.
How long must we wallow in these induced convulsions?
I think it is likely the Russians will react through proxies in West Asia. There is little strategic advantage to be gained by attacking NATO sites, equipment at this point, and it could easily lead to escalation. They can however cause some serious pain for the US/Israel in West Asia. That is where strategic resistance is important right now. Ukraine is under control. Proxy attacks on US bases in Iraq, Syria or other countries will mean body bags coming back from the region...a black eye for the outgoing administration. That could weaken domestic support for Israel and could create pressure for Trump to pull troops out and perhaps even back off on Iran. I wouldn't be surprised if Mossad assets are also targeted.
I've argued that the US is trying to free itself of the Ukraine quagmire--another Afghanistan for the US, NOT for Russia. But the pivot, rather than toward China--which would be another own goal--is toward Iran, which is the BRICS lynchpin.
One last thought about irony. Milley and other deep staters were afraid Trump would escalate with China as he was about to leave office, so much so that Milley communicated through back channels with China. Of course, Trump did nothing of the sort.
Now, four year's later, Biden and company commit pretty much that which they feared from Trump. The psychological term for what Milley did is projection.
There must be an active and loud protest against escalation and it must come from the right. I do not hold out hope for any Republican reaction beyond meaningless words and calls for restraint until Trump takes office. The right has never demonstrated a willingness to act on principal, but wages wars of words on claiming values which are meaningless and inconsequential. To the informed we are in a domestic war with Democrats and their mentally ill base which is delighting the left wing Zionist zealots who want chaos and disruption to alter their fate of a Trump presidency.
Is Biden doing this or is this being done by whoever is the real power behind the throne?
I ask because this strikes me as treason. Bear with me, I'm just musing. If Biden did this, it's clearly within the scope of his duties, as the Supreme Court ruled this year. Since he is leaving office in two months, it strikes me as treason, even if it's not strictly treason; treason in spirit, so to speak.
I'm not advocating for any kind of future prosecution. I'm just curious if anyone sees it the same way as I.
I hope that Trump will state publicly to the world that when he is in office, the aggression will stop. I'd prefer that to private communication to Putin as I read here or at another site that Putin stated Trump was pretty hard on Russia, so Putin may not have high expectations of peace with the US.
This provocation doesn't benefit us in any way, shape or form, unless we're talking about Boeing, Raytheon, etc.
I agree that Russia can respond in different ways here. They have been somewhat restrained and that they have not gone and attacked Kiev in anyway. I think the retaliation is they’re going to take the gloves off. They are going to push their ground attack even harder they may even bomb Kiev and take out a number of strategic installations relating to power, water, and other.
They certainly can support Iran in their war with Israel certainly can supply Houthis with more sophisticated missiles to keep the red sea close down. They can certainly rain down with hypersonic missiles in Ukraine. I think a response is going to happen. I have no idea what the people in the Biden administration and NATO think they are doing by trying to escalate a confrontation with Russia. Have they all lost their collective minds.
I think the neocons are trying to dig. The hole is deep as they can before Trump gets in so that the difficulty factor in trying to achieve peace is going to be so much harder. They would love to have an escalation with Russia. They want to go to war with Iran none of these things are anything we can afford in militarily. We don’t have the capability to engage on any real level.
" That major Russian response will be used for propaganda purposes in the West to portray Russia as the implacable, inhuman, and irrational aggressor against “civilized” supporters of genocide—in Palestine and, for practical purposes, by proxy against Ukraine. They hated us for no reason. That, the Anglo-Zionists hope, will tie Trump’s hands and prevent him from making peace with Russia."
I believe most of the Moscow attacks have been via drones. Also, the difference with ATACMS was explained by Scott Ritter. Unlike some other missiles that were already in Ukraine's inventory or had been acquired from NATO, these ATACMS simply cannot be used meaningfully without US participation at multiple levels--operation, targeting, etc. Also, much of the use of ballistic missiles against Russia has not been at the Russian heartland but at supposedly disputed areas--Crimea, Donbas.

I'm optimistic that Trump can turn this to his advantage. A broad cross section of Americans oppose this war. Some even resent it.

LJ has an interesting entry today.

According to the "Duran" it's most likely being pushed by Blinken and Sullivan.
Can’t prosecute dementia. Those (mis)guiding him are responsible but comfortable. dr Jill is it? - there’s a sick one.
I think you know the answer, IJM.......Biden is not in control of anything, he's just an addled and angry dead man walking.
Yes, and just like the movies about dead men (zombies) walking, it leaves a lot of devastation of innocent people in its wake.

This is the example of insanity run amok
Take out sections of Ramstein Air Base could be a proportional response.
..and/or, in the case of the Brits, Cyprus air base.
You speak my mind, thank you.

This doesn't look good, either:

I don't think there's any doubt about this.
