Macgregor always enlightening. I think that any last vestiges of diplomacy died with the rise of “the Narrative” (as Forbes discussed earlier). Real diplomacy (as Mercouris rather amusingly describes Wang Yi’s encounters with the Euro heads at Munich) would pose a grave threat to the Narrative (we’re morally superior, saving democracy, Putin bad etc). God forbid the falcon could actually hear the falconer. But no, we seem to have perfected, in a rather short time, the art of bullying and strong-arming (Zhou) while claiming our motives are as pure as the driven snow. And the truth is, we’re drained, both morally and militarily. Enter the Chinese.
