I'm all for unity as long as everyone goes along with what I believe to be right.

I'm no longer interested in doing wrong so that I can be accepted by others.

Interim Speaker Patrick McHenry agressively slams the gavel as he and 200+ other Republicans fume over Kevin McCarthy's ousting.

Where was this anger as millions of migrants poured over the southern border?

Where was this anger as US debt rises over $33T?

Where was this anger when the FBI rounded up Trump supporters and threw them in prison?

Where is this anger as the "justice" system tries to take out Biden's top opponent in 2024?

They sit back and do nothing as our country burns but fume when their buddy loses his Speaker role.

I think you're actually enjoying this type of blog posting if I might add. Serious stuff for sure and you lay it out so well. Seems right up you're alley. Much appreciated Mark.

The Uniparty is not giving up. This just in from Politico with Schumer and McConnell planning for a massive year's package for the Ukraine black hole. It's almost like what happened to McCarthy and the GOP senators rebuke of McConnell didn't happen.

Could lead to quite a fight.

I'm not sure. I fear there is still a clear majority in both Houses for supporting Ukraine. I would love to be proven wrong.

True, but events are moving towards an inflection point. Things could change quickly.

I think there is, too. For now. But more money is going to become a real struggle. The situation is becoming more fluid.

I think you are right on this Cass. The money they skim from the laundromat is too much for these psychopathic politicians to walk away from.

I say HIP HIP HOORAY,

Lyin' Kev is gone away.

The Texas House should also vacate the chair, ridding us of Drunk Dade, who is actually a Democrat, red on the outside blue on the inside.

Mark thank you, great analysis of the last few days, with much I had not heard before. I agree Gaetz did the GOP a great favor.

As Scott Adams pointed out in his podcast today (Episode 2251), the U.S. is in a period of demolition: the wheels are rapidly coming off and having a new House Speaker will not be a panacea. I don't know how bad or when the car crash will be, but it's coming.

Afterwards, we can rebuild. America, as Adams points out, is good at this. The interim period, though, will not be for the faint-hearted.

On this one, Scott is right.

Excellent article as ever. Ukraine is going to have an ever increasing ripple effect through every aspect of our political and economic lives. And not just in the US. The UK is, if anything, even more deranged on this topic. Once again, we also have to marvel at the tone-deaf arrogance of these people. What on Earth was McCarthy thinking trying to sneak Ukraine funding through with the help of the Dems? Did he really believe that the very people in his own party who forced him to go through 11 votes to get the speaker gig were just going to let it go? Amazing.

I’m sure frank luntz told him nothing to worry about…

Yup, I can just see McCarthy shouting at Luntz, "You said it wouldn't happen! You should have . . toupee for it!"

I should have been more specific: A payment on a 60 Rybovich SF as opposed to a Boston Whaler Montauk.

Well, you heard Gaetz saying the leadership is owned by special interests.

IF a Republican wins in Nov the first person to hire should be Elon. Doesn’t matter what the job title but the job description should be to fire as many people as possible as quickly as possible. Shut down agencies. Sell buildings. Whatever. Let them scream and yell

A lot of the "conservative" journals online are pushing the "unity" line. Unity in a treasonable cause is not unity. If the GOP doesn't start representing its voter base, it is doomed.

I hear ya. I’m 54 and have watched the same. It seems that when Rs are “elected” that the leftward march is slowed, but never stopped, or reversed. The Rs as a party are complicit in this destruction.
