Personally, I think the time is drawing near that the financial warfare being waged goes kinetic. At what point does an agent from one of the alphabet agencies in any one of 1/2 dozen countries get the order to, for example, eliminate George Soros, and his entire organization?

"You do not do this for vehicles that are going to be placed in defensive positions along the border with Ukraine. It is an additional indicator that Russia and Belarus may be planning to launch a combined operation from the north that will pose a direct threat to Kiev."

Well, maybe. But let me suggest an alternative, and no, I have no hard information to back up the following speculation.

What if the Russians used their newly beefed up forces to strike south from Belarus, but instead of aiming at heavily defended Kiev, instead severed the land lines of communication through which Western military aid has to flow? Think of the operation as a super Stalingrad. There's a big empty border, nothing much in the way of defenses, and the terrain would favor the attacker. They might have to wait for the ground to freeze first, so that their tanks could go cross country, but the cold weather is coming soon., by which time they could finish their buildup.

Cord, agree with you. I see all this equipment moving into Belarus and wonder if it'll be what you mention or if they move from the north and maybe a push in other areas. Ukraine must be stretched thin personnel-wise by now. Russia reportedly has access to 25 million reservists and a crap ton of equipment. Next couple of months are gonna be interesting. Russian winters are tough but, given their history, they know how to deal with it.

Afghanistan had a lot more mountains than Ukraine, and Vietnam had a lot more trees. Both had fewer roads. Factoid: The Soviet General Staff told the Politburo before the 1979 invasion that the road net in Afghanistan was too primitive to support an army large enough to win. The Russians actually won a counterinsurgency campaign in Ukraine back in the 50s. (And we backed the other side)

Even if they chose not to conduct a permanent occupation, it would, I think, be better to starve the Ukrainian army of weapons and supplies. before attempting a move on places like Kiev or Kharkov. That's how they won Stalingrad, and that's how they can win here

General Surovikin said today that he's not going to allow this war to bleed Russia. He said Russia has all it needs to bring about the "total surrender" of Ukraine. Meanwhile support for the war in the West--both US and NATO--is slipping.

The biggest risk would be that with the Ukrainians facing total defeat, NATO might attempt direct intervention. The operation could be mounted with a fraction of the force now being mobilized, but a column advancing on Ukraine's lines of communications must be prepared for the absolute worst.

I repeat myself from a response on a previous post, FU Blackrock, I’m glad I didn’t let my retirement funds stay in your woke company.

Wow ... What a mess we have gotten in to. We have been blindsided in so many ways. God bless us, God bless America, and Lord God, bless those that are Yours (no matter where they are)!

Wow! I’m sure glad Blow said that the economy was “strong as hell!” So it pretty much comes down to those of us in flyover country having to just hold our breath while we wait to see how all of these global pissing contests turn out.

COT, am I the only one who finds all those photos of Blow eating his ice cream cones both annoying and juvenile? Reminds me of Alfred E. Newman, “What, me worry?”

This regime is such a clown show and global laughing stock! Not sure how they show up for work every morning.

Kwarteng's tax proposal was to cut the basic rate of tax, eliminate stamp duty on lower priced homes, cancel planned increase in National Insurance (in US Social Security) contributions and cancel planned increase in corporation tax. If you're a regular Joe Bloggs, what's not to like - pay less tax & NI contribution, make homes easier to afford and help economy (i.e. jobs) because your employer also will pay less tax.

Two thoughts - this all got nixed yet there's no mass protest. Just shows how if you pitch it right - oh! the rich will get richer - the average person will just go along. We have a nation of illiterates with critical thinking ability on a scale of 1 to 10 of -5. Imagine the elitists reaction.

Second, what kind of a "politician" doesn't prepare for a full frontal attack the minute you put those kind of anti-Davos policies out there? Hmm?
