Thanks. Good article. Every time I read one of these and they mention how Russia has such great natural resources and we don’t, I am infuriated. My parents were geologists. We have the resources. Our elites require NIMBY to sate their virtues. Killed those mines, etc. on purpose.
It's embarrassing. I recently saw a great tweet from China, during the "talks" between the US and China. It had a photo that referenced "the International Community", showing the only the US, Canada, Western Europe, Japan and Australia. I wish I had saved it

But I was especially taken with his stories about trying to help students become critical readers, writers and thinkers. My experience as a humanities professor at a middling state university for over 15 years is virtually identical. I used to think things must be better at elite institutions. Guess not.
Yes, as a fellow teacher I too found the author's efforts so courageous and admirable. It is so upsetting to take the measure of the decline in standards, the grading fiasco, and the poor morale of students who live on the thin gruel of wokeism. They need mentors - not professors who want to be liked!
Very, very interesting! It provides a sound argument as to why college graduates are no longer capable of critical thinking, and of expressing themselves, and are so vulnerable to "wokeism."
I remember writing a paper as a Freshman ("Freshperson?") in college that cited alternative points of view on a particular topic and then described arguments for each view. The prof read the paper and said "This is good research and well written. But what do YOU think?" She did me a great favor. Those days profs not only taught students how to think but required it. Those days are apparently and sadly long gone. Depressing for our future as a society.
Or the western sheeple posting sanctimonious virtual signaling memes about how we all should be happy to pay higher costs for gas and food because we can.
