Israel fell for the old axiom "the enemy of my enemy is my friend". Israel's military and political ambitions are as foolish and expensive as are ours. And as noted, Israel will need our money to continue its conquering ambitions. We should ask one question - had the Israelis done nothing in response to Oct 7, would they be in a worse position than they are today? Of course, that can't be known, but it is worth considering.
The leaders of the US and Israel can't think beyond the next move. They are incapable of foreseeing the consequences of their actions. There is no strategy other than to destroy their enemies. The problem is, they have fostered an environment where they have a lot of enemies and not enough weapons and manpower and money to decimate them all.
If Trump continues to engage as the Biden administration has, his administration will grind to a halt. We have no interest in the ME except to encourage the free flow of oil and other commerce, unimpeded by conflict. Thus far, our "encouragement" has been through the use of expensive warships and missiles and arming Israel to destroy its neighbors.
If Israel attacks Turkey the US will have no choice but assist our NATO ally, right??

"They are incapable of foreseeing the consequences of their actions."
George Smiley might explain this in terms like this: Because they're fanatics, and one day that fanaticism will be their downfall.
Fanatics are people who are in thrall to an ideology that lacks a grounding in the real world.
However, as to their lack of a strategy, self enrichment works for some of them.
Has Erdogan stopped selling oil to Israel? If not, there are quite a few more escalation levels to go.
