Reading the Sussmann and Danchenko indictments I came to the conclusion that no reasonable person with above room temperature IQ could possibly believe the Russian interference conspiracy theories they were peddling.

I have in my mind’s eye a vision of a party where the nation’s “public health” officials were watching the nation’s law enforcement and intelligence officials brag that “we got half the country to believe a 30 year old Lyndon Larouche conspiracy theory that Donald Trump is a Russian spy,” and Fauci stood up and said, “hold my beer; I’ll have that same half the country believing the human immune system is a right wing conspiracy theory in no time flat. Hell I’ll get WaPo or NYT to publish that it’s a Russian misinformation campaign.”

Of course I’m taking some artistic license here—Fauci would never be caught drinking beer at his fancy dinner parties—it must have been a 1979 Napa Chablis…

Minor nitpick: when you say Fauci isn't competent, you should ask yourself "for what role"? He's not much of a scientist, but he an extremely competent political / administrative operative. He's been doing his thing for decades now. Clearly his real bosses are pleased with his performance.

Wow

What happens when the Overton Window of trust in Covid Information from our experts class breaks even further?

These are all have taken credibility / trust hits:

Fda / cdc on Covid, vaccine effectiveness, racism (jussie smollet), crt, inflation, Russiagate, election integrity, nonpartisan press, internet censorship, fact checking, trust in big business, trust in higher education, trust In the justice system, fbi, doj, trust in stock market not being rigged, establishment gop, Soros backed prosecutors, and big religion leadership

to name a few.

January 6th being an insurrection cover up is also slowly unraveling.

Trump is a huge Overton window breaker. He seems focused on:

1. Election fraud

2. Establishment gop

3. Russiagate

4. Main stream media

I’m not sure where we are going.

My guess is lack of trust will grow.

The 2016 election was kept front and center during the four years of the Trump administration with Russiagate. The 2020 election will never go away. An election that the majority of the country is convinced was fraudulent will be a stain on this Republic forever. Had it been properly investigated and litigated this would not be the case. Whatever your opinion of the results, it is undeniable that none of the irregularities, even though witnessed by millions, was ever given its day in court. The only question that remains is whether this is now a permanent part of American life, and elections in the future are not to be trusted.

With that as a starting point, a questionable regime imposing measures affecting our health and well-being and at the same time messing up foreign policy, the economy and even our supply chain and relying on the persuasion of a thoroughly discredited media to convince the public is unlikely to succeed. Sure, they have enough of a loyal following to convince themselves they are winning, but this represents a small percentage of Americans. Maybe, like the New York City Council, they will allow illegals, and maybe even tourists, to vote, and their policies would be able to reflect what the rest of the world would like America to do.

It's called Omicron because they skipped over the next available Greek letter, Xi. Because they didn't want to offend any, uh, world leaders. Seriously, that is the official explanation!

Not the way to build trust, is it? As if that was a concern.
