This lunatic's wish fulfillment is on a level with Hitler's "Just kick in the door and the whole building will collapse" in 1941. Well at least he avoided a two-front war with Russia; now he has a multi-front war with her. Anywhere were the US has a military base abroad is a potential new front.
I find it amazing that these evil people walk amongst us, and other morons listen to them. They had me believing for a year or two after 9/11 but my eyes have opened since.
Isn't everything in Washington now being done by rank amateurs? They aren't even good at politics. They have to 'fortify' elections, and engineer a cover-up to prevent legal challenges. Now they are using all the 'legal' means at their disposal to prosecute the opposition. They just happen to control all the levers of power...for the moment.
Hmm. I'm watching a lecture series on the Roman Republic, its beginning, middle, and end... I'm at about 200BC and the war machine is humming along, enriching some Romans and not others. Elites have imported the delights of Greek culture, small farms have been consolidated into plantations, and client states are finding out that being a friend of Rome means following Roman instructions on foreign policy to the letter... I'm not sure this story turns out well in the end; is there any other ending for the American experiment?
All empires and large civilisations follow the same cycle - without exception. The best - indeed, the only - hope for America is a break up into smaller, saner entities. Anyone who thinks Nov 2024 sorts this out is crazy.
How many of these 'policy' wonks have ever shouldered a rifle? Ever humped a fifty-pound + pack with a rifle and full ammo load plus a few mortar rounds? Ever were on the receiving end of incoming fire? But these are the dolts who sit at a desk behind a computer screen that are producing these 'plans' for conquest. Rank amateurs indeed. Given the state of today's military and the nation's unfathomable debt, I doubt it could match the logistics requirements to sustain an engagement matching the second Gulf War. And that planning capability for a two-front war that was all the discussion two decades ago - forget about it.
Sometimes only that great British swear word, "wanker" will fit the bill! Compare this guy to Colonel MacGregor or Scott Ritter. Guys who've been on the sharp end.
So, if I interpreted his article correctly, if this great scheme fails and pushes Russia to look to the East to develop new and more advantageous ties, that would represent, in his view, the worst possible outcome?
Isn’t that precisely what we find ourselves facing? Gotta be tough when your fantasies collide with the real world.
“Rank amateurs”, indeed, your characterization is much to kind Mark.

These people think they are playing chess. What an outrage! Who wouldn’t like to just punch this guy in the nose?!

I suspect they are not very good at chess either.
