So what about Sundance’s theory that Obama was already spying on the Trump campaign through the FBI’s use of NSA quarries, perhaps quarries carried out by contractors like Fusion GPS. Mike Rogers ended these fishing quarries in April of 2016.

They were flying blind from then until the Page FISA. The only reprieve that they had were periodic unmaskings of raw intelligence.

They may not have had a predicate, but they were desperate, knowing that a Trump victory was far more likely than polls indicated and the possibility that all of the Obama era spying might come to light. They succeeded in demonizing Trump and Trump supporters to their establishment college-educated suburban voters. At this point, they won't believe anything as horrific as the truth is.

I can't wait for Durham to get to the bottom of how the Greenberg "dangle" to Caputo -- of "Hillary dirt from Russia" -- figures into all of this ... especially since the dangle took place in the later part of May 2016, more than two months before the the FBI opened the CH FI.

I don't know if durham is chasing down the george papadopolus(gp) side of things, but that seems where all the real bodies are buried. GP's Odyssey as told by him, and wholly ignored in the media, has some very fixed points that certainly bear investigation. It seems obvious he was a "mark", and set up from the start, by some Intelligence elements. The fbi has known it was gp's employers who facilitated EVERYTHING w/ misfud, yet where has that part of their investigation been addressed? Why so little fbi (or media) interest in mifsud, and why has the fbi downplayed his relevance in congressional testimony? If you can get past gp's deluded sense of self-importance (he thinks he was targeted bcz he was a player rather than a political novice and dupe), he tells a seemingly honest and straightfoward version of some amazing events. Someone one was working real hard rub some russian stank on him, while using him to launder the idea of a trump russia connection as a legitimate predication. There were so many moving parts in this relatively vast operation that durham could latch onto if he had the political will. I suspect it is probably too big, and involves high levels in the 5 eye alliance that durham is unprepared to challenge.

Papa D was a distraction and still is. So low level campaign operative. He didn’t know squat. Pure set up to create a reason only to initiate CH. was well underway prior.

Yes, it's true. Papadopoulos had connections to the FBI's London legat, who sent him to Rome for the training session where he hobnobbed with Mifsud. The entire impression is, as you say, that he was a 'mark'.

The other day Mark used the great analogy of potpourri here, so here's to the add to the mix! May be a little O/T but on the other hand, not really since it all ties in together to make one stinking mess!

In the 2000 election it was claimed that the Supreme Court had given the election to Bush. What happened is that after Gore had been allowed to examine the individual ballots for a lengthy period of time and the Florida court was willing to grant him as much as he wanted in spite of his failure to get the votes he needed, all the Supreme Court decided was that it was time to move on, as the election calendar had already gone overtime. In 2020 the Supreme Court effectively elected Joe Biden President of the United States, refusing to even consider the many credible claims of election irregularities. Since all Washington covered everything up and crowned Joe Biden I judge them by Joe Biden'standards and accord them the same respect I give Joe Biden.

Jill Stein got a recount in 2016 after the ballots were in. She had access. Trump couldn't get access in Wisconsin even after putting up over a million dollars. Could be you are right. Election fraud, a National Security issue, is not a crime, just like shoplifting and even armed robbery in certain areas of the country.

I think that FBI suspicions about Donald Trump and Russian Intelligence began long before 2016. This suspicion was pushed by Yuri Shvets, a former KGB official who began to provide information to FBI Counterintelligence in 1994. During the following years, the suspicion was confined within FBI Counterintelligence and remained rather dormant.

The suspicion might have germinated in 2012, when Donald Trump made a stink about Barack Obama's birth certificate. Then in 2013, the FBI investigated an international gambling ring that was based in Russia and was operating in Trump Tower.

The Steele Dossier, written in 2016, begins with these three sentences:

[quote]

Russian regime has been cultivating, supporting and assisting TRUMP for at least five years. Aim, endorsed by PUTIN, has been to encourage splits and divisions in western alliance.

So far TRUMP has declined various real estate business deals offered him in Russia in order to further Russia's cultivation with him.

[unquote]

In other words, Steele says Russian Intelligence's manipulation began in 2011 or even earlier.

Steele associated with FBI official Michael Gaeta, and so it's likely that Gaeta shared that particular opinion.

-------

I suspect that Gaeta was transferred from the FBI New York Field Office to the Rome Embassy in about 2015 with a main mission of investigating Trump's involvement with Russian Intelligence and organized crime. Furthermore, I suspect that Gaeta really was working directly for the FBI Counterintelligence Chief, not for anybody at the Rome Embassy.

Well before 2016, Gaeta was doing a super-secret counter-intelligence job that focused mainly on Trump. And these activities are being covered up to the present time.

Everything Gaeta shared went thru the NY field office. What’s unknown is who in this field office was the conduit to 7th floor.

Mate says Gaeta referenced an ASAC in his testimony. Just my opinion, but I believe it would have happened at a higher level.

Yes. Correct. But no name ever shared.

It seems that Gaeta is not a source of information for the Horowitz report.

Perhaps he avoided cooperating fully with the Horowitz investigation.

Or else Horowitz decided to keep Gaeta's information out of his report -- perhaps because of a possibility that Gaeta eventually might be prosecuted.

------

I think that some FBI officials deceived Horowitz's investigation team.

Horowitz's investigation was limited in scope. It's possible--although a stretch--that Horowitz was somehow persuaded that Gaeta's testimony wouldn't be relevant. It is interesting.

Thanks to the proprietor for banning a vicious troll. We can see the likes of him elsewhere. Good call, Mark!

Too bad he's better at banning trolls that hurt his feelings than tasks like protecting Lesin while he was staying in Dupont Circle.

But that's what tolerating mercs like Freeh for decades gets you; corruption, incompetence, and narcissistic, speculative, politically-driven bloviating.

There's a straight line between Bulger, Sater, and morons that really think they should spew Putinite propaganda while collecting federal pensions.

As always, timing is everything. Not just the Maxwell trial, but now SCOTUS votes 8-1 to give Congress/J6 carte blanche access to Trump's White House documents after an "unsigned" request was submitted to block the release. The "news" abounds with the story --- about the SCOTUS vote, that is, however, what the news isn't telling us is what is going on behind the scene as the J6 Comm-ittee claims absolute power to investigate American citizens with no judicial overview. All this in spite of the fact that there are considerable doubts about the Constitutional validity of the Committee. Sounds familiar.

Yes, excellent. The "opinion" is a reminder to anyone who had forgotten that the DC Establishment includes the SCOTUS. The entire Establishment is united in their determination to exclude Trump, no matter what the voters say.

In the light of more recent activity by the FBI we can now look with 20/20 hindsight at past events, and it becomes impossible to assume justification for anything with political overtones.

FBI is really a monkey role. No authority at all. Extremely limited and career agents all know this.
