The Werner video is excellent and the Ellen Green essay is fantastic! I actually saw the Green column this AM and the first thing I thought is that I need to let Mark know about this; but then I thought no, he will see it and write about it - LOL. The essay is so dense with useful information it is difficult to process all of its ramifications.

To me, the essay and Werner's comments set an odd tenor as to the past and future of the U.S. On the one hand it seems past time that we repent for "our" sins given the human misery our empire and its leaders have inflicted on the rest of the world over the last 60 years, even unbeknownst to a lot of us. Part of that repentance, I would think, is to no longer tolerate politicians who have personally lied and profited from this damage, and to no longer tolerate the intelligence community and the military/industrial complex that has instigated so much of it.

On the other hand, there is a hopeful note. Even if we do indeed alienate every other government on earth (as our "elites" seem determined to do) and yet if that does not result in nuclear war or a military invasion of the U.S., we will be blessed to at least have the opportunity to reestablish a self-sustaining economy, not dependent on making people in other countries slaves or on transient, unstable political agreements with tyrannical leaders in other countries. When will we (will we ever?) learn to "live and let live" in freedom from tyranny, as our founders so fervently wanted us to do via our governing charter? Perhaps, just perhaps, we will also be able to reestablish a foothold for our unalienable human rights and our God-given freedoms. The prerequisite for all of this is for us to stop making money and power our God, both in our government and in our society as a whole.

Here's my favorite post from commenter John Seal:

"Neither side is going to win a war of attrition and letting it continue for years (as seems to be General Milley's preference) would be immoral and - perhaps most critically - a serious impediment to achieving a 1.5C limit on global warming."

One word: hahahahahahahaha!!

Speaking of the Treasury Dept... Janet Yellen comments. "Be ready to pay the price of war"...

"We think it's a price that's important to pay to punish Russia for what it's doing in Ukraine," she said. "But energy prices are going up, the price of wheat and corn that Russia and Ukraine produce are going up and metals that play an important industrial role – nickel, titanium, palladium – the cost of those things are going up. This is going to escalate inflationary pressures as well."

Yep, they think nothing of the price WE as U.S. citizens pay - as long as they get what THEY want. Over and over again. And it goes on and on and on and on.

The reason, of course, was Russia. It has always been seen (regardless of the reality, especially post-USSR) as a roadblock to Western control of the world and as a raison d'etre for our military, alliances, and intelligence communities. If Russia as a threat went away what would be their purposes? Alas...

@sean

Ah, the moral preening game.

You seem new to this substack, so a word of warning. This substack is not interested in regurgitating the propaganda of the Globalistas. If you're still living in that Globalista Bubble, this stack is probably not for you. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt that youre not a troll because you bothered to respond.

This stack is reality based. Arguments based on logic, reason, facts, common sense. Passion or dispassion aren't germane. No one likes the suffering inflicted by war. Nonetheless it's the human condition and pretending that our moral outrage substitutes for understanding truth or debating the way forward is infantile.

Ireland you say? How many innocents were killed in the war of Irish independence? And atrocities committed by disguised partisans killing and wounding in ambush fashion and indiscriminate bombings? Oh but that's different, isnt it because Britain blahblahblah...? And where's your moral outrage over the Ukrainian nazis executing Ukrainian citizens for the "crime" of suspected collaboration? By all means, Sean, defend and excuse these nazis and then preen some more for us.

"Awful stories" - BBC, right? Don't you know by now the British colonial empire and MI6 have their own agenda and filter the news? You are in Ireland and even with all the lies and all the history there you accept every word they say as truth without looking at alternatives? Plus what does Z being Jewish have to do with anything? He's siding with the Nazis! OK, well I guess Soros did too. But still?

Who cares if Zelensky is Jewish or not? Is that supposed to make him a godly man? Remember Soros? He started getting rich by collaborating with the Nazis in WW II. So drop the crap about Zelensky's nominal religion. Biden is nominally Catholic, like Pelosi, yet they are both all about killing babies. Zelensky is a puppet, not a hero. And we are likely being fed misinformation from both sides, so the first thing to do is figure who is seeking out and presenting credible sources, and who isn't. Then give it all careful thought. Weigh everything.

You do realize the U.S. has a history of planting false flag atrocities all over the world in order to whip up domestic support for military intervention?

I think the fox has run to ground here. So your criticism is that it "appears" to you that Mark is apologizing for Russia's "murderous actions"? If that's really what you're about then by all means, elaborate. Where exactly do you see that? If you can't back up your slur then maybe you are from the troll farm.
