Thought: New paradigm, meaning Globalism (what allowed for Israel to become what it has) is completely dead. No hegemony. New organizing blocks are coming. Every country is on its own at this point until it figures out how to function in the Digital Paradigm. So Trump is taking something away from Israel so that it can’t claim it is in control. In Globalism, Israel got away with anything, as did the US. Now it’s a different playing field: can’t get away by bsing. In the Digital Paradigm people care about the particulars of life, not about what happens across the globe. Might Trump recognize that Israel, to still exist, can’t be what it has tried to be, and might he recognize that Americans will not go along with it as they used to?
Also, the word “zero” has been thrown around for a few years now, meaning there is no more global leadership, and implying that this is the problem. There is quite literally no one for Trump to work with…at least not in obvious ways. But what if it’s the Chinese? The Chinese are the other human “civilization.” Trump’s children and grandchildren speak Mandarin. He always talks about China more guardedly. It is possible that he has a view towards a kind of synergy with China, which is not an ally, but not the enemy either.
China can be viewed as going through a second “opening,” see all the talk about Digital tech and AI recently. This opening can be viewed as the Chinese saying that Digital is going to blow everything up and we need to work together so that it does not lead to a situation where buttons are pressed that blow the people up. Unlike the West, the East does not believe in an eschatology of the world coming to an end. They believe in cycles, with the height of their cycle in about 125 years.
Might it be that Trump and the Chinese are more in alignment than we think? Eliminating USAID, curbing CIA, going after the Fentanyl stuff, ending the Mid East wars, Ukraine, a reworking of global rules of the road, all fits into concerns the Chinese have.
"The Bank of England's default on the gold market can only provoke a crisis of confidence in the fiduciary system put in place after the US defaulted on the Bretton Woods Agreement in August 1971. This crisis has only just begun."
I really don't know that the American people don't care what is going on with Israel's genocide. Right now most are still trying to eek out a living ...the economy is so bad they just are trying to survive.
Trump is systematically creating animosity almost everywhere on the planet (China, Russia, Europe, Canada, Mexico, Panama, Iran, all the Gulf States, Ukraine, etc.) and he's not stupid; so there must be a purpose to this apparent insanity. One theory is that he is doing this deliberately as part of a "Crazy Eddy" strategy in order to get other world leaders to lean his way or risk WW3 or worldwide economic depression. STOP ME BEFORE I PUSH THE BUTTON! At a minimum, this act diverts attention away from the elephant in the room, which is the looming financial time bomb ticking in the background. Yellen left Trump the trivial matter of refinancing $7 trillion in short term sovereign debt later this year. Someone has to buy those bonds or inflation goes through the roof. Is Trump's theatrical performance really just a game of chicken?
Can't say I know what games are being or not being played but I do know there's a bloody great field of natural gas lying off the coast of Gaza that belonged in law to the Palestinians and that the Israelis stopped them from developing.
Yes, Amanda that is correct. Therein lies the why of Israeli expansionism. You can include the Ben Gurion Canal Project as another and that needs Jordanian land. If successfully built would harm Egypt by reducing valuable tolls and transit fees they use for economic development. Whoever controls the transit pathways controls billions of dollars in fees and a crucial pathway to send oil and gas to Europe.
Thank you for expressing your thoughts, feelings, facts, hunges etc..........and making it into a coherent article every time! I enjoy reading your substack. My overall picture is still leaning towards that we are not 'being'saved' by a bunch of millionairs. Shahid Bolsen has a lasersharp way of putting it. Here is one video of him stating that this is not a revolution but a transition.... regarding Trump and policies (and BRICS). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kE7UwSc_Z6s . Here is one more about Trump and his remarks on Gaza https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMAW2OwyGqs
Impractical, Incomprehensible, Illegal: Trump Traps Netanyahu and Sows Chaos With U.S. Takeover Plan for Gaza
Trump's plan for the Gaza Strip that includes the relocation of 2 million Palestinians is not logical or viable. Whether it's an imperialist tantrum or an actual 'out of the box' initiative, there is really no way to endorse, refute or examine it
Good quote from Alex Berenson sums up the dangers of Trump's rhetoric: "It’s all fun 'n games until China invades Taiwan." Note to Trump: the rest of the world are not so easily rolled over as the US dems"
A bit O/T: I’d wager that none of these “babies” ever studied rhetoric, but that hasn’t stopped them from coming over from SpaceX and blowing the lid off Treasury! Fascinating read from Surber, really recommend.
I recently attended a lecture regarding those scrolls from Herculaneum. Absolutely fascinating how they were able to unlock the scrolls. Many more yet to be read.
It was! The carbonized papyrus rolls, over a thousand of them were discovered in the early excavations (1730s) of a villa near Herculaneum. The villa and scrolls had lain buried since Vesuvius erupted in 79AD and covered the town. The papyrus rolls were completely carbonized.
That villa became known as Villa Papiri. A replica sits above the Pacific Ocean in Malibu, know known as The Getty Villa.
It wasn't until one of the carbonized scrolls was dropped and broke open, that it was realized they were ancient Greek texts.
These scrolls that one of our DOGE Whiz kids decoded are the only surviving library of the classical world.
America "taking over" Gaza to run it humanely by Americans so that it won't look like an open-air prison camp but will instead become an AMAZING Mediterranean resort with nice worker housing, and everyone will be safe there because we'll have TREMENDOUS surveillance tech,
Re Politico (well named!) and its “spawn” Axios, Van de Hei and the insufferably arrogant Mike Allen must be in a cold sweat. Thoroughly disgusting. We all knew NPR and PBS passed the cap for financial support from listeners, but the financial gain and ideological collusion revealed here puts the lie to these digital rags’ entire operation.
Oh boy…and of course this state-controlled media kicked in big-time to silence scientific inquiry during Covid…That should finish off AP which, even with extra millions, is just hanging on…
It's not humanitarian at all and when was the last time America acted on behalf of humanitarian reasons, not self serving reasons for our elites to virtue signal their compassion while raking in cash like a Kars 4 Kids gambit?
If Gaza is for greater Israel, then let Israel pay for it's reconstruction, out of their own pockets, not ours. Let the profits from gaming casino's, golf courses, and the oil and gas reserves off the coast accrue to the USoA in payment for our years of enriching this apartheid state through aid and subsidies to grow their military and techno state for the next 100 years.
Seems to be 1D chess, which is what a bullet or bomb is. Nothing complicated. While acknowledging all the brilliance of the DeepState demolition, I have to say enabling genocidal zionist maniacs is a sucker-punch in the gut, and I can only hope President Trump has a cogent plan. Otherwise he simply joins the pol pot pantheon.
I suspect the euphoria of his blitzkrieg on domestic issues has obscured the area of foreign policy. I can certainly understand no real work can get done until the traitors and back stabbers are rooted out and DOGE seems to be ticking that box. Ok, fine. But these pressers on geopolitics with a smirking Netanyahoo looking like something out of Grimm's Fairy Tales, the bombastic claims of taking Gaza and shifting the Gazans elsewhere while talking big plans for the land seems rather crass. Two words come to mind...Lebensraum and Herrenvolk (h/t Max Blumenthal).
As Mark mentions below, Doctorow believes T’s over-the-top language is intentionally “opaque” and “confusing” but is being used as a “negotiating tool…” I kinda think he’s got a point. T is giving something to Net now, but will extract something later.
Another forever war in the Middle East on the behalf of the Jewish State. That does not end well for us. It has to be the dumbest and most dangerous thing I’ve heard. Quite alarming really.
Doctorow's comment seems smart. There is that hope. But rhetoric and appearances still matter:
Artemesia replied to a comment on Trying To Figure Out Trump's Aims.
Gilbert Doctorow with Nap (@ 7 min) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKCzhYYvgFo --Bibi's body language suggested he was surprised by the proposal -- Trump gave Netanyahu an off-ramp: he can return to Israel with some 'accomplishment -- BUT US ownership of Gaza means **Israel must stop bombing and killing:** "Trump ended the genocide." -- In response to a question about Palestinians returning, Trump said, "If we could get them in nice homes where they would not be shot, not be killed, not be knifed to death like what's happening in Gaza ..." I want to think this was not directly responding to "where will Palestinians live," it was a rebuke to Bibi, sitting 3 feet away.
At first I thought Doctorow’s comment was grasping at straws. But watching the clips of Trump with Netanyahu, it really does seem the latter was taken off guard. His smirking seemed less confident than awkward.
Anyway, the idea of U.S. ownership of Gaza is so outlandish, I have to think Trump is merely up to his usual antics. Doctorow: “Trump is stupid like a fox.”
I remember this story, Cass. I had high hopes for Trump and wavered, recovered, wavered again and so on. This does bring back reasons why I liked him. My focus of the last few years has been the realization we have no control or say of our government and certain entities and Oligarchs do, and one tiny foreign country who really has no true allies, was a surprise. I have commented elsewhere on this thread and my feelings are harsh. One though that came to me after seeing your comment above, perhaps Trumps take Palestine and fixes Gaza for the Gazans, lifts them up out of poverty and despair while providing the jobs that can make there tiny strip of land a land of hope and success. Isn't that we've done for Israel. Isn't that the Liberal parties answer to crime, lift them out of poverty and crime (terrorism) and they will prosper. Give it back to them and ask for royalties on the gas and oil in return as payment. Win-win, yes? Perhaps a plan like that would rid of the stain of genocide and a pariah no more and we get our Shining City on the hill back.

MOA is putting killed/missing/bodies not recovered in Gaza
at 500,000
https://www.moonofalabama.org/
You may or may not have noticed that Israel has bombed all schools
medical facilities, government offices
whether the intent was to destroy all records of live civilians is unknown
The Nazi's kept meticulous records of life and death which records were
utilized in trials at Nuremberg
it appears all records of Gaza life has been destroyed

Okay, to be completely doom-pilled,
America "taking over" Gaza to run it humanely by Americans so that it won't look like an open-air prison camp but will instead become an AMAZING Mediterranean resort with nice worker housing, and everyone will be safe there because we'll have TREMENDOUS surveillance tech,
accomplishes the Greater Israel goals.
Politico missed payroll.
How much money was flowing through various cut out to them. Perhaps all the defunded NGO’s had $10k per year subscriptions?
https://www.zerohedge.com/political/politico-ny-times-propped-millions-dollars-us-government
Why are the Democrats treating the defunding of USAID like 9-11?

I’m wondering how big was the funding of leftists aligned media by the government?
Pentagon sent Reuter $9.1 million for disinformation. Ap got millions.
https://instapundit.com/700697/
and it seems they use cutouts for funding, as a way to hide the recipient.
According to reports i Heard as much as $35M went to Politico.
I think it’s more.
The $35 million in only from government subscriptions at $8.5 million a year.
What’s missing is the subscriptions from all the NGO’s funded by the U.S. government, especially US Aid.
I agree.
speaking of cutouts. see Rockefeller foundation and patronization to Bill Kristol via USAID.
Oh boy…and of course this state-controlled media kicked in big-time to silence scientific inquiry during Covid…That should finish off AP which, even with extra millions, is just hanging on…
Busy day again, Ray, but thanks for these links.
Looks like one great big slush fund and all in the name of democracy.
"Our" (i.e. Their) democracy, of course
!!!!!!!!!
I have no idea what Trump means by any of this blather about Gaza. Why the obfuscation and how does that benefit anyone? 4D chess?
Talk of expelling the Palestinians from Gaza for whatever purpose doesn’t seem very humanitarian but then Gaza is rubble.
No, checkers.......
It's not humanitarian at all and when was the last time America acted on behalf of humanitarian reasons, not self serving reasons for our elites to virtue signal their compassion while raking in cash like a Kars 4 Kids gambit?
