The Deep State Has Given Zhou His Marching Orders--Can He Process That?

While writing the previous post on cancer and dope I was also listening to Alexander Mercouris. One of the last items he mentioned was the matter of impeachment. He basically said, it’s obvious that Zhou is being shown the door. Rather than go through the impeachment, he’ll be forced to resign after a deal has been made. The terms of the deal?

1. Zhou won’t be pursued for his grotesquely corrupt life of crime inside the Beltway; there won’t be an impeachment trial and so the investigations will go away.

2. Hunter won’t be hammered for his role—he may have to plead to some nickel dime firearms charges. Big deal.

This is why I’ve been saying that impeachment really isn’t the remedy that America needs to its crisis of constitutional order. Impeachment turns out to be the device that will enable the cover up. The cover up is needed because a full blown impeachment would reveal the reality of Deep State governed America—and that can’t be allowed. This is what I’ve been saying—Zhou knows too much dirt, even if he has trouble recalling it all.

It amounts to the Deep State kicking the can down the road. Better to keep Zhou before the public eye—rub the American people’s nose in the mess they’ve allowed their country to degenerate into.

Jesse Waters gets a lot right in this 10 minute video. The title is highly misleading. Waters’ monologue is basically about how the Deep State runs the country and how they’re managing the current succession crisis:

Biden has done his job according to the Democrats

Zhou’s job, says Waters, was simply to be a place marker between Trump and … somebody else. His job was “to replace Trump,” is the way Waters puts it. But that’s not quite it. He was a place marker, a non entity, the chump who signed off on other people’s decisions. He wasn’t the first choice by a long shot, but there was nobody else available at the time—any other Dem might have had delusions of running the country if they had been installed in place of Trump.

A center piece of Waters’ monologue (and I urge you to watch the full 10 minutes) is the role of David Ignatius in communicating the decision of the Deep State. Ignatius is the Deep State mouthpiece, and Waters cites his past lies that set up Trump for a take down—a take down that had to wait for a stolen election, in the end. Waters is quite good when he relates Ignatius’ role in the Russia Hoax.

Now, you may well disagree with Waters’ conclusion. He thinks that Newsom won’t run in 2024, preferring to get ready for 2028. And so, Waters suggests, Trump will be allowed back into the Oval Office as preferable to four more years of Zhou. I dunno about that. Could the Deep State do a deal with Trump? I can see a scenario for that, a power sharing arrangement, but … I still think Trump is anathema to the Deep State. Never say never, I know.

Right after I published the last post, I started reading Yves Smith’s latest, and it’s pretty good at covering most, if not all, of the bases. However, she’s mostly focused on the signs that Zhou is being shown the door:

That’s been obvious for quite a while. She cites the increasingly hostile tone in the MSM, with even CNN peppering hapless WH flacks with questions about Zhou’s inventions/lies. But, like Waters and others, she also focuses on the role of David Ignatius as the messenger who delivers the bad news to Zhou:

But the big bombshell is the David Ignatius oped in the Washington Post telling Biden not to run again and even going so far as to tell Harris to step aside too. Tellingly, the article was not paywalled:

The significance is not that Ignatius sticks the shiv in as nicely as possible, spending paragraphs signaling his regret at having to recommend against Biden 2024 despite Ignatius’ view that Biden “has been a successful and effective president.” It’s due to Ignatius’ status as whisperer in chief for the surveillance-intelligence industrial complex.

Or as Mark Ames puts it—and, by the way, if you follow the link there are some amusing comments:

But I continue to believe that there won’t be any impeachment trial and that the inquiry will be quietly smothered. Speaker Kev’s announcement is just part of the game to remove an embarrassment from the public stage. To continue the investigations after the embarrassment is removed would defeat the purpose of removal.

But let’s go back to Waters. I believe he gets things slightly wrong, but is right on the Big Picture. Here’s what I mean.

Waters suggests that we’re about to hear a continuing drumbeat in the MSM this fall, calling on Zhou to “gracefully announce he won’t run again.” That doesn’t solve the problem of the cascade of revelations and the momentum toward impeachment. Only resignation can put all that to rest—shortcircuit the revelations. Cui bono? Who benefits. And this is one of the places where Waters gets things very right:

Biden is staring down the barrel of impeachment. The American Intelligence Community has to tie up loose ends. Just like they did with the Mueller investigation, the Durham investigation, the Lab Leak bribes, urging Biden to step aside is just another cover-up. An impeachment exposes the Bureau and the Agency--the American Intelligence Community was complicit in a decade of Biden Family business.

They had the Bidens on FISA surveillance, wiretaps, with Chinese agents. Treasury has 150 Suspicious Activity Reports. Hunter Biden was used as flypaper overseas. That's why everyone surrounding the Biden Family is in prison or missing. And remember the second prong of the impeachment inquiry? House Republicans are looking at the cover-up. FBI agents tipping off the Bidens. Justice Department deep sixing the Ukrainian bribe allegations. Chinese counter espionage. And the IRS agents being obstructed.

The full public airing in House committees on live TV with this mountain of evidence compromises the entire Washington Establishment. Not just the Feds--the Press, too. ... So [Ignatius'] column is more than a suggestion. It's a marching order.

But this leads us to the point that Mercouris was making today, and that I’ve suggested in the past. Using impeachment to force Zhou out is pointless if the investigations continue—in any serious way. Impeachment is, as Waters states, just another cover-up. Once Zhou departs, the MSM will drop it. It will be time for us all to move on. Yes, there may be a few trouble makers demanding answers, but this looks like another win for the Deep State. They can’t afford to lose on this on this, not with the war on Russia going deeper and deeper into disaster territory. It’s circle the wagons time.
